Celtic vs Hibs Prediction: Back Celtic to win by two or more

The quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup take centre stage this weekend, with the four games spread across the weekend. We get moving on Friday evening when Hearts host Dundee in Edinburgh. We then watch Aberdeen play Queens Park at Pittodrie before Celtic welcome Hibs and Livingston fly the flag for the Championship against St Johnstone.
You’ll find a Scottish Cup accumulator article elsewhere on Betfred Insights, but we focus on the game in Glasgow on this page, which kicks-off at 15:00 on Sunday afternoon, live on Premier Sports 1. Celtic vs Hibs Betting Tips
*Odds correct as of the time of publication
Scottish Cup holders Celtic return home for a quarter-final clash with fellow Premiership club Hibs. You can follow all the action from Celtic Park from 15:00 GMT on Sunday when the locals are expected to secure a convincing win over their visitors from the capital. Celtic are betting favourites to win this game, go on to lift the cup, and secure another treble.
Hibs travel from Edinburgh to Glasgow with nothing to lose. The Hibees are the underdogs, priced like winning isn’t an option. But anyone with experience of following this competition knows anything can happen. Queens Park reminded us of the unpredictability and fun of the national cup competition when beating Rangers at Ibrox in the previous round.
Celtic are the current keepers of the trophy, and despite that giant-killing from lowly Queens Park across the city in the previous round, the Hoops are betting favourites at Betfred.
There are no surprises in the pre-match betting, with the odds supporting Brendan Rodgers’ team for another impressive win in a successful season. Fancy the home team getting the job done and progressing to the next round? You can support Celtic at Betfred’s 2/9 offer. That’s about as good as I had hoped for the Glaswegians.
Hibs are one of the form teams in the Scottish Premiership, winning each of their last three and enjoying an unbeaten run. They’re currently third in the pecking order, rising from the bottom of the league to the European places.
An extended run in the cup and a return to Hampden would help make it a strong season for Hibs manager David Gray, but they must beat Celtic to progress to the last four. The away win is 10/1, with a draw yours at 4/1.
Celtic -1 handicap
I expect a strong win for Celtic on Sunday afternoon, and that’s clear from my first pick, backing the home team -1 goal on the handicap. The price on Celtic to win is tight, forcing us into the specials, but there’s value in the Hoops on the handicap, and we’re happy to follow. With this bet, the final score isn’t important. As long as Celtic win the game by two or more clear goals, your bet will be settled as a winner and the profits paid to your balance.
Backing Celtic on the handicap was the correct approach in their previous two wins. They lost 2-1 to Dundee in controversial circumstances last month but responded to batter Aberdeen 5-1 at this venue and St Mirren 5-2 in Paisley. Ten goals scored in two games. We’re on the right team here. Let’s hope Celtic live up to expectations and secure an easy win at home over Hibs.

Correct Score - Celtic 3-0 Hibs
We’ll now aim for a selection with a bigger price attached and return to the correct score market. Regular followers of our Scottish football preview and predictions will know we’ve landed a few correct score winners already this season, including a fair share when betting on Celtic games. It’s time for another.
When studying the stats, I noticed Celtic scored exactly three goals against Hibs in each of their previous two home games, winning 3-1 here in the League Cup and 3-0 in the Premiership. Hibs beat Celtic 2-1 at Easter Road last time, but I fancy the champions to roar back when it matters most, win, and march into the semi-finals.
