The Scottish Football season has enjoyed several high-profile Old Firm matches and we have one more before the summer as the two Glasgow giants play one another in the Scottish FA Cup Final this Saturday (15:00). You can watch this one on BBC One Scotland or via Premier Sports 1.

Our Scottish Football expert Frank Monkhouse is looking to hit big with a 40/1 shot and he takes you through his thinking in his Celtic vs Rangers Predictions...

Celtic vs Rangers Betting Tips

  • Celtic HT/Rangers FT @ 40/1

Saturday brings a day of major finals across the United Kingdom and a derby double-header. Manchester City faces Manchester United in the FA Cup final from Wembley, London, while the Old Firm go head-to-head at Hampden Park in Glasgow to decide this year’s Scottish Cup winner. With both games broadcast live on television from 3:00pm, a thrilling few hours awaits.

We focus on the match from north of the border where Rangers and Celtic tussle for the fifth and final time this season. The bickering neighbours have played four times previously in the Scottish Premiership, with Celtic enjoying an unbeaten run and near-dominance.

The head-to-head stats show the Bhoys boast three wins over their rivals, with one game at Ibrox ending in a 3-3 draw. Will Brendan Rodgers’ side add the Scottish Cup to the Premiership title won this month, or can Philippe Clement deliver a double in his first season at Rangers? Keep reading as we preview the action.

It’s the game Scottish football fans have been waiting for and it promises to send followers into the summer and Euro 2024 on a high. The nation’s two biggest and most successful teams are going head-to-head at Hampden for the oldest association football trophy in the world.

Will Rangers get their names on the silverware for the 35th time and first since 2022, or can Celtic stretch their record to 42 title wins, defending the prize they won last year with a convincing 3-1 victory over Inverness?

Betfred customers can predict the result using their desktop or mobile device, with match-winner odds available, as well as over 100 pre-game betting specials.

Fancy Rangers to win the trophy in regulation time at a chunky 16/5, or do you prefer the chances of last season’s champions at 5/6? Can’t split them? The draw is 13/5, and that’s sure to attract attention after the last four derbies have been settled by one goal or less.

Celtic winning at HT

Rangers have adopted a bad habit of starting games slowly and conceding the first goal, giving themselves an uphill struggle and we could see more of the same on Saturday at Hampden.

The Gers conceded first against Hearts at Tynecastle last weekend in a 3-3 draw, leaked the first two goals at home to Dundee and the first couple when visiting Celtic Park earlier this month. They even conceded first at home to Kilmarnock, meaning Gers went 1-0 down in each of the four games played this month.

While their opponents have started slowly and conceded the first goal, Celtic have a fierce reputation for a fast start. They raced into a two-goal lead in each of their last three meetings with Rangers and won the only other derby this season 1-0 in Govan.

The stats point towards Celtic winning at half-time for the fourth derby in a row, and the odds are worth backing as a single or as part of your cup final multiples.

Celtic HT/Rangers FT

Followers of our Scottish football column can return for an in-depth look at Scotland’s chances at Euro 2024 later this summer. But before then, we want to bring the curtain down on the current season with a big-priced winner and hope to cross the line in style.

Those who have read all-season long have enjoyed some great cup and Premiership profits but we hope to save the best for last.

Despite backing Celtic to win the first half, we’re taking a pop at Rangers fighting back to win the game with a remarkable price available. Gers fought back from 2-0 down to draw 3-3 with Celtic at Ibrox last month and came agonisingly close to winning the game when a Cyriel Dessers shot flashed past the post in the dying seconds.

Looking at their second-half performances in the derby, we note Rangers scored one without reply at Celtic Park and impressed with a 3-1 at Ibrox in that six-goal thriller. We’re hoping Gers finish strongly on Saturday and advise shooting for a big win off small stakes.
