Burnley are stuck in the relegation zone and have only won once so far this term.

Next up, they host Crystal Palace, with kick-off at 15:00 on Saturday afternoon.

Below we’ve previewed the game and come up with a couple of selections.

Burnley vs Crystal Palace tips

  • Under 2.5 goals @ 4/6
  • Burnley 0-0 Crystal Palace @ 8/1

Team News

Lyle Foster missed the midweek Carabao Cup loss through illness, while Michael Obafemi, Jordan Beyer and Hjalmar Ekdal are all out for the long-term. Meanwhile, Josh Cullen will miss this one having picked up five yellow cards.

For Palace, Michael Olise and Ebere Eze are both edging closer to a return and could feature in this weekend’s squad. That will provide a huge boost to Roy Hodgson, who has been struggling to find goals in their absence.

Match Odds

Burnley are 7/4 to win this match, while Crystal Palace are 8/5. There isn’t a lot to choose between the two sides, and a draw is priced at 11/5. Over 2.5 goals is available at 11/10 and BTTS is 5/6.

Under 2.5 goals @ 4/6

These two teams are in a poor rut of form in front of goal. Vincent Kompany’s side look far removed from the one that cantered to the Championship title last term. They’ve tried to alter their style of play, but in doing so have lost their cutting edge. The Clarets were beaten 3-0 by Everton in the Carabao Cup in midweek, and worryingly, are yet to win at Turf Moor this season.

They’ve scored just two goals in their last four outings in all competitions and are facing a well-drilled Palace side. However, Hodgson’s men are also coming up short in attacking areas. Without Eze and Olise they have lacked creativity, and failed to score in four of their last six.

During that time, they’ve only scored twice, and there is a growing concern about their lack of threat. They’ve actually been okay defensively, keeping three clean sheets in that same time period, so a low scoring encounter with two blunt attacks is expected at Turf Moor.

Burnley 0-0 Crystal Palace @ 8/1

This is a big price for two poor attacking teams. Burnley’s leaky defence is a worry, but ultimately they are going to have to dig in at some point if Kompany’s men are to stay in the Premier League. A home match against a misfiring Palace side is a chance for them to pick up points, but Hodgson’s side can be so organised in these matches.

With Eze and Olise not fit to start, and Lyle Foster’s fitness uncertain, we could see a poor stalemate unfold here. It’s a result that won’t delight either manager, but one that could be the likely outcome at Turf Moor.
