Half/full result – Draw/Man City

City’s opening-day record under Pep Guardiola is very impressive – six wins from seven.

In addition, the Cityzens have an excellent record in this fixture, and thumped Burnley 6-0 in the FA Cup at the Etihad last season, and remarkably, they haven’t conceded in any of their last seven meetings with Burnley

However, City can be slow out of the blocks in the opening few weeks of the season, and completing the treble, along with a few departures and new signings, may mean that it takes a few weeks for Guardiola’s side to gel.

As the odds suggest, City are the much stronger side, but Turf Moor will be a difficult place to visit for most teams this season and Burnley will want to lay a marker down.

In fact, the Cityzens’ defensive record wasn’t particularly good towards the end of last season, especially away from home. In fact, they have conceded in eight of their last 10 games away from the Etihad, including in their penalty-shootout loss to Arsenal in the Community Shield on Sunday.

Erling Haaland to score anytime

The Norwegian didn’t waste any time becoming accustomed to life in the Premier League, scoring 36 goals in 33 starts – a league record.

He scored a hat-trick in the FA Cup game against Burnley last season, and it feels like there’s more chance of him scoring than not, so I’m backing him anytime here.

Under 10.5 corners

Manchester City won just about everything there was to win last season but they were bottom of the Premier League for total corners per game.

It’s easy to understand why corners are low in City’s games as their possession-heavy style means the ball is usually in play rather than going out of it.

This game will no doubt follow suit, which is why I’m backing the under 10.5 corners in this game.
