Wolfsburg vs Bayern Munich Prediction: Kompany to kick off with all three points

Vincent Kompany will get his first taste of the Bundesliga as a head coach on Sunday (14:30, Sky Sports Mix) when his Bayern Munich side take on Wolfsburg at the Volkswagen Arena. The Belgian was a shock appointment at Die Roten after suffering relegation as Burnley boss last season, and he has been tasked with taking the Bavarians back to the top after Bayer Leverkusen ended their dominance in Germany.

Team News
Wolfsburg beat regional side Koblen 1-0 in the DFB Pokal on Monday, with head coach Ralph Hasenhuttl naming a strong starting XI that included summer signing Kamil Grabara.
French defender Maxence Lacroix lined up in front of the Polish goalkeeper but has been the subject of a bid from Premier League side Crystal Palace, so it remains to be seen whether he is still around to feature on Sunday.
Mohamed Amoura, Lukas Nmecha, Kevin Paredes and Rogerio are all injured.
Bayern's cup victory was more convincing as they thrashed Ulm 4-0 on Friday courtesy of a quick-fire first-half brace from Thomas Muller and late strikes from substitutes Kingsley Coman and Harry Kane. The pair subsequently started Tuesday's friendly against Swiss side Grasshoppers, with Kane getting himself on the scoresheet again in another 4-0 win.
The likes of Kane and Alphonso Davies look to have had ample game time now to put themselves in the frame to start on Sunday.
Summer signings Michael Olise and Joao Palhinha should make their full debuts at Wolfsburg, but fellow new arrival Hiroki Ito is out after suffering an injury in a pre-season friendly draw with Duren last month.
Leroy Sane hasn't played a part in any of Bayern's pre-season friendlies and looks unlikely to feature this weekend, joining Ito, Josip Stanisic and Daniel Peretz on the sidelines.

Wolfsburg haven't beaten Bayern since January 2015, when a brace from Bas Dost and a double from Kevin De Bruyne helped Die Wolfe to a 4-1 win at the Volkswagen Arena. Their record since goes a long way to explaining their odds of 5/1 for a victory this weekend, giving them an implied win probability of 16.7%. The visitors, meanwhile, can be backed at 2/5 (71.4%).
Sunday's hosts last claimed a point in this fixture in May 2022 - a draw is available at 100/30 this time around.
Both teams to score is 4/7 and over 3.5 total goals is 11/10.
Match Result & Both Teams to Score - Bayern Munich & Yes @ 8/5
Bayern did the double over Wolfsburg last season, beating them 2-1 at the Volkswagen Arena in December and triumphing 2-0 at the Allianz Arena in May. Sunday's hosts endured a pretty poor season in general, finishing 12th, just four points above the relegation zone.
Die Wolfe will be hoping that Kompany's Bayern are yet up to full speed, and they can take confidence from the fact they have scored in each of their last four meetings at the Volkswagen Arena, albeit Wolfsburg have picked up just one point from a possible 12 across those games.
Bayern will be targeting a third-straight success in Wolfsburg to kickstart Kompany's managerial career in the Bundesliga, and I think it will be a third successive trip when they win but also concede.
Wolfsburg showed their potency in their final pre-season friendly against Brentford on August 9, drawing 4-4 with the Premier League side, and they have scored in their last 10 Bundesliga home matches, last failing to find the net in a 1-0 defeat to Freiburg on December 9.
At this early stage of Kompany's tenure, backing Bayern to keep a clean sheet on the road is brave, so I'm backing the hosts to score at least once, but such is the firepower in the Bavarians' ranks, the visitors should still come out on top this weekend.
Michael Olise Anytime Scorer @ 7/4
Olise was a big-money arrival from Crystal Palace in the summer but Bayern had to wait for the Frenchman to join their pre-season preparations as he was representing his nation in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The 22-year-old excelled at the summer event, scoring twice and registering five assists to inspire France to a silver medal at the Games.
His efforts came on the back of a stunning season for Palace, even if he missed half (19) of the Eagles' Premier League games. In the 19 he did play, Olise netted 10 times, laying on a further six goals for his teammates, to secure a switch to Bayern.
The winger made his Bayern debut in the cup success at Ulm, registering an assist in a fleeting substitute appearance before scoring the opening goal in Tuesday's friendly win against Grasshoppers. He played over an hour against the Swiss side and should be in contention to start against Wolfsburg.
Olise looks set to take the Bundesliga by storm, and with confidence flowing through his veins, I believe he can get off to a scoring start on Sunday.
