Werder Bremen vs Hoffenheim Prediction: Max tax for hapless hosts

Werder Bremen’s winless run in the Bundesliga extended to eight games (D3, L5) with a 1-0 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen last Saturday. On Tuesday (19:30 GMT), it doesn’t get any easier for the 15th-placed side, with 1899 Hoffenheim (third), unbeaten in their last five (W4, D1), their opponents at Weserstadion.
Below are my Werder Bremen vs Hoffenheim predictions, alongside all the latest team news and match odds.

Werder Bremen vs Hoffenheim Odds
Werder Bremen, who lost last season’s corresponding fixture 3-1 (February 2025), are 21/10, or a 32.3% chance, to end their winless run on Tuesday, with Hoffenheim 23/20 (46.5%) to record a fourth consecutive victory.
The draw is priced at 13/5, both teams to score at 8/15, and over 3.5 total goals at 6/4.
Werder Bremen vs Hoffenheim Stats
- Burger (TSG) is averaging 2.2 fouls p/g (Bundesliga) and has been booked in two of his last three apps
- Moerstedt (TSG) has scored two goals in his last three games
Player to Receive a Card - Wouter Burger (TSG) @ 13/5
Hoffenheim midfielder Wouter Burger joined the club last summer from second-tier English side Stoke City, where he had spent the last two seasons, recording 10 yellows in each of his two EFL Championship campaigns.
The 24-year-old averaged 1.8 fouls per game during his final league season with the Potters, and in the Bundesliga, he’s been even more aggressive, averaging 2.2 fouls per game.
Burger has been booked four times in 17 appearances, and two of those yellows have come this calendar year in back-to-back home victories over Borussia Monchengladbach (5-1) and Bayer Leverkusen (1-0).
On Tuesday, the Dutchman is likely to be in a midfield battle with Jens Stage and Romano Schmid, averaging 1.2 and 0.9 fouls won per game, respectively.
In Werder’s last home game, a 3-3 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on January 16, visiting defender Arthur Theate was booked for fouling Schmid, and three days prior, in a 3-0 loss at Borussia Dortmund, midfielder Marcel Sabitzer was shown a yellow for upending Stage.

Anytime Goalscorer - Max Moerstedt (TSG) @ 9/5
Hoffenheim forward Max Moerstedt stepped off the bench to round off the scoring in his side's 5-1 thrashing of Borussia Monchengladbach on January 14, marking his first Bundesliga goal.
The 20-year-old was a late substitute again three days later as Hoffenheim beat Leverkusen 1-0 at home, but he got his chance from the start last Saturday, and he took it with both hands, beginning Die Kraichgauer's comeback in their 3-1 victory over Eintracht.
That's now two goals in his last three appearances, just one of which has been as a starter, so 9/5 looks like decent value for the Germany U21 international in the Anytime Goalscorer market, particularly with Werder shipping three goals in their last home game.
