Union Berlin vs Borussia Monchengladbach Prediction: Difficult to separate the two sides

Borussia Monchengladbach are still searching for their first Bundesliga win of the season as they travel to Union Berlin's Stadion An der Alten Forsterei on Friday (19:30 BST, BBC iPlayer). The hosts have managed two wins from the opening six rounds, but their form has been up and down.

Team News
The home side are in a rather good position concerning injuries but they still have some worries regarding three members of their squad.
Robert Skov has not featured in a competitive fixture since a home 4-2 defeat to Hoffenheim in mid-September. He was involved in a friendly last week but then suffered a setback by picking up a calf injury, so his return date is likely going to be pushed back further.
Fellow striker Livan Burcu is still having issues with his ankle and is considered a doubt to face Gladbach on Friday night. There are also doubts surrounding the availability of defender Josip Juranovic, who has not featured since a 2-1 win over Stuttgart in August. His injury remains unspecified.
Borussia Monchengladbach have had a rough start to the reason, which has partly been caused by several key figures missing through injury. A big absentee has been striker Tim Kleindienst, who is still recovering from his knee problem.
Nathan Ngoumou has been out of action since April with an Achilles tendon injury, and he will once again miss out for Die Fohlen. Favio Cristian Chiarodia and Robin Hack are also expected to miss the match through adductor and knee issues respectively.
Union Berlin vs Borussia Monchengladbach Predicted Line-ups

Union Berlin vs Borussia Monchengladbach Odds
Union Berlin have won one of their three home games so far and they are 5/4 to come out on top on Friday. Their last appearance at Alten Forsterei was a goalless stalemate with Hamburg.
The draw is priced at 5/2 (implied probability of 28.6%), which has been the result in two of Borussia Monchengladbach's past three appearances in the top flight.
The visitors are 21/10 to land their first victory of the campaign.
Both teams to score has been a winning selection in four of the hosts' previous six home games in the Bundesliga and BTTS Yes is marketed at 8/13 on this occasion.
Union Berlin vs Borussia Monchengladbach Stats
- Union Berlin drew their last home league game
- Gladbach have drawn two of their past three Bundesliga matches
- Six of the visitors' previous eight league fixtures produced under 2.5 goals
Draw @ 5/2
Neither of these two clubs have had a great start to the season, but at least Union can say they have two wins on the board. That being said, they find themselves just four points ahead of Gladbach, who are yet to register a victory.
This isn't shaping up to be some box office Friday night entertainment that some people will be hoping for, but it is a match in which presents the two sides with an opportunity to try and ignite their campaigns.
The home advantage could play a part for Union but the truth is their last performance against Bayer Leverkusen did not leave them with many positives and Gladbach fought valiantly to take a point from Die Werkself on their last away trip in the Bundesliga.
Die Fohlen have drawn two of their previous three fixtures and Union's last outing here ended in a stalemate. I think the draw is worth covering here because neither side have been convincing enough to back for three points on Friday.

Under 2.5 goals @ 1/1
Unlike their 10-goal thriller with Eintracht Frankfurt last month, I don't think this Gladbach match will feature too many goals. Of course, this has been the common trend for the visitors recently.
Six of their past eight Bundesliga contests have produced fewer than three goals, including their two away trips this term. Under 2.5 goals has also been a successful bet in two of Union Berlin's previous three appearances in the league.
