Hamburger SV, enjoying a five-game unbeaten run in the Bundesliga, head to the Mewa Arena on Friday (19:30 GMT, BBC iPlayer) for a night game against Mainz 05, whose three-match win streak was brought to an end in brutal fashion at Borussia Dortmund (4-0) last week.
Below are my Mainz 05 vs Hamburger SV predictions, supported by all the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Stefan Bell (unspecified), Robin Zentner (groin), Anthony Caci (hamstring), Benedict Hollerbach (Achilles) and Sota Kawasaki (muscle) are among those out injured for Mainz 05, who will also have to make do without the suspended Silvan Widmer following the Switzerland international's fifth booking of the campaign in Dortmund.
Hamburger SV are missing a suspended player of their own, on-loan Tottenham Hotspur defender Luka Vuskovic, who received his fifth yellow of the Bundesliga season in last Saturday's 3-2 victory over Union Berlin.
Albert Sambi Lokonga, Alexander Rossing-Lelesiit (both unspecified) and Albert Gronbaek (thigh) are injured, meanwhile.

Mainz 05 vs Hamburger SV Stats
- M05 have won all three home games in 2026
- HSV are five matches unbeaten (W2, D3)
- Konigsdorffer (M05) has scored three goals across his last two apps
Double Chance & Both Teams to Score - Mainz 05 or Draw & Yes @ 6/5
A competitive contest is predicted on Friday as Mainz, who have won all three homes games this calendar year, host an-inform Hamburg side unbeaten in their last five matches (W2, D3).
Mainz are handed the favourites tag here, though, and for good reason, as Heidenheim (2-1), Wolfsburg (3-1) and Augsburg (2-0) have all been bested at the Mewa Arena in 2026, while Hamburg have just won once on the road all season, admittedly in their last away game at Heidenheim (0-2) on February 7.
Heidenheim are bottom of the Bundesliga, however, so I'm not paying too much mind to that victory, although Hamburg did hold St Pauli to a goalless draw in their previous away outing, so I prefer the insurance of Mainz or Draw here.
Both teams to score looks like a good bet, too, as Hamburg have struck at least twice in their last three games, the first of which was a 2-2 draw with runaway leaders Bayern Munich, while Mainz have notched seven times across their last three at home.

Anytime Goalscorer - Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer (M05) @ 11/5
Hamburg forward Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer scored just once in his first 19 Bundesliga appearances this season, but he's now struck three times in his last two.
The 24-year-old doubled his season tally in the 2-0 win at Heidenheim on February 7, and a week later, he bagged a brace in his side's 3-2 victory over Union Berlin.
At 11/5, I think it's worth backing the Ghanaian, who struck 14 times in 32 second-tier outings last season, to make it three consecutive games with a goal on Friday.
