Eintracht Frankfurt vs Bayern Munich Prediction: Free-scoring sides to put on a show

The Bundesliga's Saturday evening game this weekend comes from Deutsche Bank Park, where Eintracht Frankfurt host reigning champions Bayern Munich.

Team News

Rasmus Kristensen (muscle) is doubtful for Eintracht after missing the Eagles' last four games.

Otherwise, Dino Toppmoller's side appear to be at full strength, but we can expect at least a couple of changes from Tuesday's starting XI against Atletico Madrid, with the Spaniards thrashing their German counterparts 5-1 in the league phase of the Uefa Champions League.

Mario Gotze will be eyeing a first start of the season against his former club, while Jean-Matteo Bahoya and Hugo Larsson will also be after promotions from the bench.

Football Odds

Bayern paired Harry Kane and Nicolas Jackson in attack on Tuesday as they thrashed Pafos 5-1 in Cyprus, but the latter is expected to drop down to the bench in Frankfurt on Saturday.

Serge Gnabry could come back in for the on-loan Chelsea striker, while Tom Bischof, Jonathan Tah, Sacha Boey and Leon Goretzka will also be hopeful of earning recalls to the starting XI.

Hiroki Ito (foot), Alphonso Davies, Josip Stanisic (both knee), Jamal Musiala (calf) and Jonas Urbig (groin) are expected to miss out for Vincent Kompany's side.

Eintracht are unbeaten against Bayern at home since August 2022, beating the Bavarian giants 5-1 in December 2023 before last October's 3-3 draw. Saturday's hosts are 5/1, or a 16.7% chance, to recover from their midweek drubbing and record back-to-back Bundesliga wins for the second time this season, while the visitors are 2/5 (71.4%) to maintain their perfect start to the league campaign.

The draw is priced at 9/2, both teams to score at 4/9, and over 3.5 total goals at 8/11.

Kane has scored 11 goals in his last five appearances for Bayern, including three in a 4-1 win at Hoffenheim on September 20; the Englishman has been boosted to 11/1 (was 9/1) to score 3+ on Saturday by Betfred.

Bayern (22) and Eintracht (17) are the two top-scoring sides in the Bundesliga this season, and only Eintracht (30) have seen more goals scored in their games this season than Bayern (25).

Eintracht's Bundesliga games are averaging six goals per game, and Bayern's five, so we should be in for an entertaining encounter in Frankfurt this weekend.

Toppmoller's side have scored 3+ goals in four of their five matches, while Bayern have struck at least three goals in all five of theirs.

There have been plenty of goals between the two teams in recent years, with six shared in the corresponding fixture last season as they drew 3-3 at Deutsche Bank Park. Bayern hit four without reply in the reverse meeting in Munich in February, though.

Eintracht shipped five to Atletico in midweek and have conceded four goals in their last two league games, losing 4-3 at home to Union Berlin before winning 6-4 at Borussia Monchengladbach last time out in the Bundesliga, while they were breached three times in their 3-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen on September 12.

Bayern, meanwhile, conceded twice in a 3-2 DFB-Pokal victory at Wehen on August 27 and a 3-2 Bundesliga win at Augsburg three days later.

Anytime Goalscorer - Jonathan Burkardt (SGE) @ 13/8

Jonathan Burkardt took four games to get up and running for Eintracht, whom he joined from Mainz in the summer after scoring 18 goals in 29 Bundesliga appearances last season, but he got off the mark with a brace against Galatasaray on September 18, and has struck once in his last three outings, meaning he heads into Saturday's contest with five in his last four.

The 25-year-old is now eyeing a goal in a fifth consecutive game, and given how Bayern haven't exactly been watertight at the back this season, you'd be a brave person to bet against the German forward achieving that.

Burkardt failed to get on the scoresheet in two appearances against Bayern last season, but in a free-scoring Eintracht outfit, he looks good value at 13/8 to find the net this weekend.
