Borussia Dortmund head into the final day of the Bundesliga season hoping they can claw themselves into the top four to qualify for the Uefa Champions League. The Black and Yellows host Holstein Kiel at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday (14:30, Sky Sports+).

The hosts sit one point behind SC Freiburg coming into the weekend, so they will be hoping that Eintracht Frankfurt can do them a favour as the Eagles head to Stade-Europa Park. Read on for my Borussia Dortmund vs Holstein Kiel predictions, featuring the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

Pascal Gross will miss Dortmund's final match of the season due to suspension. The midfielder will be absent due to an accumulation of too many yellow cards, so expect Marcel Sabitzer to come into the side to operate alongside Felix Nmecha.

Defender Nico Schlotterbeck is not expected to return to the pitch until October because of a meniscus injury, and his absence makes Niklas Sule, Waldemar Anton and Ramy Bensebaini the most probable candidates to line up in a back three for the Black and Yellows.

With attacker Maximilian Beier out of action, striker Serhou Guirassy will likely have Julian Brandt and Karim Adeyemi to aid him in the final third.

Borussia Dortmund vs Holstein Kiel Stats

  • Dortmund have won four games in a row in the league
  • BTTS has struck in six of the hosts' last seven Bundesliga matches
  • Serhou Guirassy (DOR) has scored two or more goals on three occasions in the league this term

For the visitors, midfielder Armin Gigovic is suspended, though Nicolai Remberg and Magnus Knudsen are both available to feature.

Steven Skrzybski can play in an attacking role behind forwards Alexander Bernhardsson and Shuto Machino, with Andu Yobel Kelati out injured.

Boss Marcel Rapp is dealing with an injury crisis in defence as Colin Kleine-Bekel, Ivan Nekic, Marco Komenda and Patrick Erras are all ruled out. Their injuries could force the manager to select Timo Becker, Carl Johansson and David Zec to play as back three.

Borussia Dortmund vs Holstein Kiel Odds

Dortmund are the 1/12 favourites here as they have won four matches in a row and they are up against a side who already know that they will be playing in a lower division next season.

BTTS has struck in five of the hosts' past six victories, and combining this to a home win produces a 1/1 price, which offers far better value. On its own, BTTS is on offer at 4/5, and it has been a successful bet in nine of Holstein Kiel's past 10 outings in the league.

The visitors have drawn two of their previous three away trips in the Bundesliga and the stalemate is marketed at 10/1. Die Storche are 22/1 to pull off an upset and shatter Dortmund's Champions League dreams - and they have won two of their last three fixtures in the top flight.

Borussia Dortmund and both teams to score @ 1/1

Their fate is not completely in their hands but all Dortmund can do is focus on themselves and do their part as they bid to finish the campaign inside the top four. Momentum is certainly with them as they have won four matches in a row, as well as six of their last seven.

Niko Kovac's side will be out to put on a show in front of their fans for the season finale, and I think they can do just that. They are facing a team who are already relegated, which could potentially make them more dangerous as they have nothing more to lose.

On the flip side of that, it might make the visitors more open and it may play into Dortmund's hands. Holstein Kiel have the worst defensive record in the division (77 goals conceded) and I think the attackers for the hosts can have a productive afternoon as a result.

I fancy Die Storche to get on the scoresheet, though, as nine of their last 10 appearances in the league have produced goals at both ends, including each of their previous six. BTTS has also struck in five of Dortmund's past six wins in the Bundesliga.

Player to score two or more goals - Serhou Guirassy @ 11/8

There isn't much value to be had for Dortmund's top scorer, Guirassy, to score anytime in this contest, so I'm going one step further. I'm backing him to find the net at least twice.

The striker has netted 20 goals in the Bundesliga in 2024/25 and he heads into this clash in great form, with six goals in as many appearances in the league. The Guinea international has struck in his side's last four fixtures, too, which sets him up nicely for the final game of the campaign.

Guirassy has scored twice or more on three occasions in the Bundesliga this season, with the most recent coming against VfL Wolfsburg on May 3. This match was at Signal Iduna Park, as were the other fixtures in which he scored multiple times (Union Berlin and VfL Bochum).

Against a leaky defence, I think we could see him round off an excellent season in style.
