Bayern Munich vs Stuttgart Prediction: Both teams to score in Berlin showdown

VfB Stuttgart beat third-tier Arminia Bielefeld 4-2 in last year’s DFB-Pokal final, and Die Roten are back to defend their title as they take on Bayern Munich in Saturday’s showpiece at the Olympiastadion (7pm, Premier Sports 1).

Below are my Bayern Munich vs Stuttgart predictions, alongside all the latest team news and match odds, as Bayern aim to win the trophy for the first time since 2020.

Serge Gnabry (muscle) and Alphonso Davies (hamstring) are Bayern Munich’s two big injury absentees, while youngsters Maycon Cardozo (thigh), Cassiano Kiala (ankle) and Wisdom Mike (hip) are also ruled out for Vincent Kompany’s side.

Manuel Neuer (calf) and Konrad Laimer (back) are touch-and-go.

Stuttgart skipper Atakan Karazor missed his side’s last two games due to suspension, but he’s free to return on Saturday.

They’ve played each other three times in the past nine months, with Bayern Munich winning all three games.

In the German Super Cup at MHPArena last August, Bayern Munich won 2-1 before thrashing Die Roten 5-0 at the same venue in the Bundesliga four months later.

More recently, the sides faced off at Allianz Arena in April, with Kompany’s charges prevailing 4-2.

Bayern Munich are big favourites to win Saturday’s game in regulation time, with odds of 2/7 implying a 77.8% probability of success, while Stuttgart are 13/2, or a 13.2% chance, to claim a DFB-Pokal victory in 90 minutes for the second season running.

The draw, which would send the tie to extra-time in Berlin, is priced at 9/2, with Bayern and Stuttgart 1/7 and 4/1, respectively, in the ‘To Win Tie’ market.

Stuttgart’s Chris Fuhrich has scored eight goals in 51 games across all competitions this season, including one in five DFB-Pokal appearances.

The 28-year-old has struck twice against Bayern in his career, including once this season, in April’s 4-2 defeat at the Allianz.

Both teams have scored in 15 of Bayern’s last 19 games across all competitions, including four of their last five.

Stuttgart, meanwhile, have seen BTTS-Yes land in 13 of their last 19 matches, including their last six.

Both teams have got on the scoresheet in three of the last four head-to-heads, including last time out in April.

Bayern full back Josip Stanisic only recorded seven shots across 26 Bundesliga appearances this season, but two of those came against Stuttgart as he tried his luck home and away, scoring the first of his two Bundesliga goals this term as a substitute in December’s 5-0 hammering.

The 26-year-old has been more shot-happy in the UEFA Champions League and DFB-Pokal, registering seven and three attempts, respectively, in 10 and five appearances.

The third and final leg of this Bet Builder relies upon Stuttgart defender Maximilian Mittelstadt following suit and shooting at least once on Saturday.

The 29-year-old averaged 1.3 shots per 90 in both the UEFA Europa League and Bundesliga this season, while in the DFB-Pokal, he’s recorded two efforts in five games, one apiece in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, albeit the second came in extra-time.

Mittelstadt was only a 65th-minute substitute when these sides last met in April, but the German shot twice in their December meeting and once in August’s Super Cup showdown.
