Bayern Munich vs Mainz 05 Prediction: Another victory for Kompany’s men

Bayern Munich can reclaim the Bundesliga title this weekend as they welcome Mainz 05 to the Allianz Arena on Saturday (14:30). The league leaders require a victory and defending champions Bayer Leverkusen to drop points against Augsburg.
Die Bayern recorded a thumping 4-0 victory at Heideinheim last weekend which should serve them well against Mainz, who have failed to win in each of their previous five fixtures in the top flight. Read on for my Bayern Munich vs Mainz 05 predictions, aided by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Jamal Musiala (hamstring), Dayot Upamecano, Alphonso Davies (both knee) and Hiroki Ito (foot) are all out injured for Bayern, while Manuel Neuer (calf) remains a doubt to feature.
Should the shot-stopper miss out again, expect Jonas Urbig to play between the sticks, shielded by a back four of Konrad Laimer, Eric Dier, Josip Stanisic and Raphael Guerreiro.
Thomas Muller will likely get another opportunity in attack alongside Michael Olise, Leroy Sane and Harry Kane, as he edges closer to his Bayern exit after a stellar 25-year association.
Bayern Munich vs Mainz 05 Stats
- Bayern Munich have won three of their last four Bundesliga matches
- Harry Kane has 24 goals in the league
Maxim Leitsch and Moritz Jenz are Mainz's only two injury absentees coming into the weekend, but it does leave them short of centre-back options.
Stefan Bell looks set to join Danny da Costa and Dominik Kohr in the back three, while Kaishu Sano and Nadiem Amiri are expected to continue in the engine room.
Centre-forward and top scorer Jonathan Burkardt is once again likely to be aided by Paul Nebel and Lee Jae-sung in the final third.
Bayern Munich vs Mainz 05 Odds
Bayern are the 1/5 favourites to win here but you will find better value with combining this selection with both teams to score, as there have been goals at either end in each of the hosts' previous three Bundesliga clashes at the Allianz.
It is marketed at 11/8, which has an implied probability of 42.1%.
Die Bayern's last appearance here was a draw with Borussia Dortmund, while Mainz 05 have experienced three stalemates in their past five league fixtures. The draw is on offer at 6/1.
Die Nullfunfer are 11/1 to get back to winning ways and they have won three of their last five road trips in the top flight.
Bayern Munich and both teams to score @ 11/8
Bayern are closing in on the Bundesliga title and it may not be confirmed on Saturday but it won't be far away if they secure a victory over Mainz. Kompany has done an impressive job during his first year in charge and it would set a solid foundation for his project moving forward.
Three wins in their last four sets Die Roten up nicely for this home clash, as well as the fact that Mainz have gone off the boil in recent weeks, with no wins in their last five games.
It seemed as though Die Nullfunfer were primed to secure Champions League football for next season last month but now they have dropped down to sixth, but Europe's most glamorous competition is still attainable.
Unfortunately, I don't see them landing a significant victory at the Allianz as Bayern are just too strong here. The hosts have lost just one of their 15 matches here in the league and with them on the cusp of the title, I think they will secure three points on Saturday.
Mainz can certainly play their part, though, as BTTS has struck in the past three matches held at the Allianz in the Bundesliga, while there have been goals at both ends in six of the visitors' previous seven appearances in the top flight.

Harry Kane first goalscorer @ 5/2
Kane is the top scorer in the Bundesliga with 24 goals and he will arguably be more desperate than anyone to secure this league title, as he is yet to win a major trophy in his career to date.
The England international's figures during his two years in Germany so far have been phenomenal, and rewarding of silverware.
The 31-year-old striker heads into the weekend with three goals in his last four Bundesliga appearances, so he will be full of confidence when facing Mainz, whose own confidence has dipped in the last few weeks.
Kane will be fired up for this contest and I think backing him to open the scoring could be a shrewd selection at 5/2.
