Bayern Munich are seemingly cantering their way to another Bundesliga title, but they face a tough test this week as they travel to face Bayer Leverkusen at BayArena (14:30 GMT), a side that currently sit three points off the top four.

Team News

Having drawn with Arsenal in the Champions League in midweek, Kasper Hjulmand may be tempted to name a very similar XI here. The only negative is that Alex Grimaldo is suspended for this league game having picked up five yellows, so Ernest Poku may start at left wing-back in his place. 

Jonas Hofmann will play at right wing-back while up top, teenager Christian Michel Kofane caused problems against the Gunners and will lead the line. Lucas Vazquez, Arthur and Loic Bade are all sidelined for the hosts, but goalkeeper Mark Flekken has returned to training. 

For Bayern, Alphonso Davies came off in tears against Atalanta and looks to have suffered a serious injury that will certainly rule him out here. Josip Stanisic will start in his place alongside Jonathan Tah, Dayot Upamecano and Konrad Laimer.

Harry Kane was left on the bench against Atalanta but should return to the XI here, supported by Luis Diaz and Michael Olise.

Backing the away side to win this game will come as no surprise given they have won 21 of their 25 Bundesliga outings this term. They’ve now won their last seven games on the bounce in all competitions, and Vincent Kompany’s men are looking to challenge for the treble, having hammered Atalanta 6-1 in their Champions League last-16 clash. 

Set for the quarters in Europe, they are also into the last four of the DFB-Pokal and it would take a mighty collapse for them to blow their 11-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga table. Their last four wins in a row have seen both teams score in the process, so let’s back that pattern to continue in this one. 

Luis Diaz to score anytime @ 6/5

Kane is obviously the star of this Bayern side, but given he is coming back from a minor injury I want to look elsewhere for goalscoring value. Luis Diaz has been a sensation since joining for big money from Liverpool in the summer, and his numbers have gone through the roof. 

He’s now scored 20 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions this term, adding another 17 assists on top of that, which means he has 37 goal contributions in 36 games. Remarkable. He’s scored five goals in his last six Bundesliga games and I feel he offers the best value when looking at a Bayern goalscorer.
