Team News

Rob Dickie, who missed the first match of the campaign due to suspension, played the full 90 minutes in Tuesday's EFL Cup win over MK Dons and he is available for Saturday's contest.

Max Bird came on in the second half in midweek and he is expected to be named among the substitutes for the visit of the Addicks, while Joe Williams, Max O'Leary, Cameron Pring and Luke McNally remain sidelined.

Striker Matty Godden is Charlton's only confirmed absentee for the contest. Harvey Knibbs, Luke Berry and Charlie Kelman, who all cramped up in the league opener, got valuable minutes in the midweek EFL Cup win and could play a part in this clash.

Bristol City vs Charlton Odds

Bristol City are the 19/20 favourites to pick up the win on home soil, with the draw priced at 5/2 and Charlton the 16/5 outsiders to come away with all three points.

Bristol City to win @ 19/20

After losing in the semi-finals of last season's play-offs, it was unclear how Bristol City would start the new campaign, especially as they were forced to bring in a new manager following Liam Manning's switch to Norwich City.

But the Robins have started off like a house on fire under new head coach Gerhard Struber, who guided his side to a 4-1 victory over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in their Championship opener before easing past MK Dons 2-0 in the EFL Cup.

This is exactly the start the club would have been looking for as they look to push for promotion to the Premier League and City will feel confident of registering a home win over Charlton, who battled to a 1-0 home win over Watford on the opening weekend.

A 3-1 triumph over Stevenage in the EFL Cup followed for the Addicks and confidence will be high in the squad, but this looks like a tricky test against a City side who boasted the fourth-best home record last season.

Scott Twine anytime goalscorer @ 5/2

Scott Twine registered five goals and three assists in the Championship last season, a disappointing return, but he has started this term off in quick fashion with two goals and an assist in the league.

The 26-year-old forward set up both goals in the EFL Cup victory over MK Dons and he appears to be benefitting the most from Struber's appointment this summer.

In front of a packed Ashton Gate, Twine can continue his strong start to the campaign and get on the scoresheet.
