Brighton Premier League Odds: Mid-table beckons for the Seagulls

Brighton & Hove Albion are preparing for their eighth consecutive season in the Premier League, hoping to build on last year's disappointing 11th-placed finish. The Seagulls had been on an upward trajectory in the two years before suffering a setback last year.
They will be hoping to fly again this year. They've got a new man in the dugout in Fabian Hurzeler, and several new faces have been added to the squad as they bid to push for the top 10 once again. Below I take a look at Brighton's Premier League odds and give my honest prediction of where they will finish in 2024/25.

On paper, an 11th-placed finish for Brighton is very good, but considering they finished sixth the year before, last year did feel quite disappointing. It appeared as though Roberto De Zerbi's magic had evaporated on the south coast, though the Italian wasn't helped by injuries to his players, as well as the exits of key midfielders Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo.
De Zerbi's exit in the summer wasn't surprising but this was the first time in a while where people thought the Seagull's forward planning would be disrupted. Nonetheless, they pulled off another promising appointment in Fabian Hurzeler, the youngest permanent manager in Premier League history at 31 years of age.
The German had just guided St. Pauli to the 2. Bundesliga title and now he is taking a crack at the Premier League with one of its best ran clubs. He has some work to do to get the Seagulls back on an upward trajectory as last year's finish was lower than the previous two campaigns. He will certainly bring fresh ideas given his age, but the Premier League is certainly a huge step up from what he is used to.
I don't think this will be too troubling for Brighton, though, because everyone trusts the decisions they make in terms of recruitment, whether that be players or managers. What is going to hurt them, in my opinion, is that a lot of their rivals have been strengthening over the last couple of years. You saw Aston Villa last year and there are a couple this term who will be hoping for something similar, such as West Ham United, who are having an excellent transfer window.
The new boys will themselves give the team new dynamics and will surely help the new gaffer get his ideas across, but he will also look to help develop the talent already at the club. Joao Pedro had a strong first year in Sussex with nine goals in the league, and Hurzeler will task him with passing double figures this year.
Kaoru Mitoma will once again be key for them, and his wing play is one of the best in the division, should they keep hold of him this summer. What looks to be the biggest task for the new boss right now is getting a tune from striker Evan Ferguson.
It was only a year ago where he was one of the hottest young forwards in Europe and linked with the likes of Manchester United. He started the season strongly and netted a hat-trick against Newcastle United, but he soon started to disappear from the side, making the odd cameo here and there, while also experiencing some injury problems.
We all know of his potential, and Hurzeler will be tasked with unlocking it, as goals from the Irishman and Joao Pedro will be crucial to their ambitions in 2024/25.
