Brentford welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to the Gtech Community Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday (15:00), as they bid to get back to winning ways after just one point from their last three outings.

They will get no better opportunity than this weekend's opponents as Wolves are rooted to the bottom of the table with just a single point after six matches, still waiting for their first win of the campaign. Read on for my Brentford vs Wolves prediction, accompanied by match odds and team news.

Brentford vs Wolves Betting Tips

  • Brentford and both teams to score @ 13/5
  • Bryan Mbeumo to score two or more goals @ 17/2

Brentford vs Wolves Odds

Brentford are 19/20 to win this clash, giving them a theoretical chance of 51.3%. Wolves are priced at 5/2 to pick up their first three points of the season, which gives them an implied probability of 28.6%. The draw is on offer at the same odds.

Over 2.5 goals can be backed at 8/11 and both teams to score is marketed at 4/6.

Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo has scored five goals in six Premier League appearances this season. The Cameroon international is 4/1 to open the scoring, or 11/8 to find the back of the net at any stage.

Team News

Brentford remain without the services of several of their stars, with  Yoane Wissa, Igor Thiago, Mathias Jensen, Aaron Hickey and Rico Henry all in the treatment room. Midfielder Christian Norgaard is also a doubt to feature after missing the last two matches with a problem.

Fabio Carvalho, a big-money summer recruit from Liverpool, has been partnering star man Mbeumo in attack in Wissa's absence, with the DR Congo forward expected to be out for a few months.

Kevin Schade and Keane Lewis-Potter started on the flanks in the 1-1 draw with West Ham United last time out and both should keep their places for the visit of Wolves.

The visitors also have a lengthy injury list, which has not made Gary O'Neil's job any easier. Sasa Kalajdzic, Enso Gonzalez, Leon Chiwome, Bastien Meupiyou, Boubacar Traore and Yerson Mosquera are all sidelined, and the latter is expected to be out for a lengthy period of time.

Brentford and both teams to score @ 13/5

The Bees may be three games without a win but I am confident that they will bounce back with three points against this struggling Wolves side. The Old Gold have been consistently poor in the top-flight so far, and while I understand fans' frustration with some of O'Neil's in-game management, he has been dealt a bad hand with resources once again in another survival mission at Molineux.

Their performance in their 2-1 defeat to Liverpool last week was not easy to watch and it is hard to see right now where they could possibly pick up a win. Brentford have shown they are a force to be reckoned over the years when playing at home in the Premier League, and even with their absentees, they should still have more than enough to beat this Wolves team.

I think backing them to win and both teams to score is a worthy selection for this contest because Mbeumo has started the season in style and I think he can terrorise Wolves' fragile back line, which has conceded 16 goals already this campaign.

The Old Gold can get in on the action, though, as they have scored five of their six outings in the top-flight so far. Even with some bad performances, they are still having moments which are leading to goals.

With a talent like Matheus Cunha, who has two goals already, they will always have a chance of scoring, but he cannot turn the club's fortunes around on his own.

Bryan Mbeumo to score two or more goals @ 17/2

I have been talking this man up for much of this preview, so it feels only right to back him to score. I am going one step further, though, as I believe he can find the back of the net more than once against the Premier League strugglers.

The Cameroon international has five goals already this year in the top-flight and he already has a brace to his name. This also came on home soil against another team struggling in the Premier League, Russell Martin's Southampton, who are one place above Wolves in the table with the same number of points.

Mbeumo has already tormented a back line that has endured a poor start to the season, and I think he can cause Wolves' back line several headaches on Saturday afternoon.

The Old Gold have conceded 16 goals already this term, averaging at 2.6 per 90. With the form Mbeumo is in right now, I think he can ensure this trend continues single-handedly when these two sides collide.
