Brentford vs tottenham hotspur

For the first time in over 20 years, Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to avoid a fifth-straight defeat when they make the trip to the Gtech Community Stadium to take on Brentford (14:00, live on Sky Sports Main Event).

Ange Postecoglou's side defeated Elfsborg 3-0 on Thursday night delivering a much-needed boost, while Brentford enjoyed an away win at Crystal Palace last weekend. Read on for my Brentford vs Tottenham Hotspur prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

Radu Dragusin tweaked his knee in the second half of Thursday's win over Elfsborg, and the centre-back is expected to join the likes of Brennan Johnson, James Maddison, Wilson Odobert, Guglielmo Vicario, Timo Werner, Dominic Solanke, Destiny Udogie and Cristian Romero on the sidelines.

Micky van de Ven could be given the all-clear to start on Sunday, while Djed Spence and Sergio Reguilon will return to the fold after not playing in midweek due to Europa League ineligibility.

As for Brentford, Christian Norgaard and Kevin Schade were both subbed off early in the win over Palace, but Thomas Frank stressed that both changes were precautionary, and both players are expected to feature on Sunday.

Michael Kayode may make his debut for the Bees following a loan move from Fiorentina, while Rico Henry, Josh Dasilva, Ethan Pinnock, Aaron Hickey, Igor Thiago and Gustavo Nunes.

Brentford vs Tottenham Hotspur Odds

The Bees are 21/20 to secure the three points, giving them an implied win probability of 48.8%, with the draw 16/5 and a Spurs win is priced up 11/5.

Bryan Mbeumo tops the anytime goalscorer market at 23/20, while Son Heung-min is the shortest-priced for the visitors 8/5.

Brentford to win @ 21/20

Brentford's home record was once the best in the division, winning seven and drawing one of their opening eight games at the Gtech Community Stadium.

However, west London has not been a happy hunting ground for the Bees of late, with defeats to Nottingham Forest, Arsenal, Plymouth Argyle (FA Cup) and Liverpool coming alongside a come-from-behind draw against Manchester City in their last five home encounters.

To be fair to Frank's side, bar the surprise defeat to Plymouth in the FA Cup, that is a tough run of fixtures and they'll fancy themselves to get back to winning ways against an out-of-sorts Spurs outfit.

Postecoglou's men have lost their last four top-flight matches and have taken just one point from the last 21 on offer, a run of results that has seen the club plummet to 15th in the table.

With a ever-growing injury list, there doesn't seem to be much hope for Spurs heading into Sunday, and they've lost four of their last five away matches - they may struggle to cope with Brentford here.

Bet Builder - Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo to both have 1+ shots on target @ 5/6

Spurs are renowned for their attacking intent under Postecoglou, and they've conceded 102 shots on target so far this season in the top flight.

Therefore, Brentford should get plenty of scoring opportunities, as they're averaging 5.09 shots on target per 90 minutes in the Premier League. Their two main contributors to their league success so far ar Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo, who have 11 and 14 goals respectively in the league this term.

Both men look a sensible pick when looking at shots market, as Mbeumo has tested the goalkeeper in his last five games in the league, while Wissa has managed to sting the keeper's gloves at least once in his last four outings for the Bees.
