Team News
Brentford were in action in the second round of the Carabao Cup and boss Keith Andrews made several changes for that victory at AFC Bournemouth, so expect the likes of Hakon Valdimarsson, Kristoffer Ajer, Aaron Hickey and Rico Henry to come in from the off.
Mikkel Damsgaard could be in line for a return after missing the Bees' 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Saturday through illness, but Andrews may save the Denmark international for the trip to Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday.
Fabio Carvalho came off the bench to net the equaliser against the Blues and he will be pushing for a start here. Record signing Dango Ouattara, who was the match-winner when the two sides met last month, may be restored to the attack.
For Villa, Lucas Digne was taken off at Everton on Saturday with a head injury, so Ian Maatsen is likely to start at left-back on Tuesday.
The visitors are also having to cope without the services of Amadou Onana, Boubacar Kamara (both hamstring), Youri Tielemans and Ross Barkley (both unspecified).
Summer acquisitions Victor Lindelof, Jadon Sancho and Harvey Elliott could be set for their first starts for Unai Emery's side in west London.
Brentford vs Aston Villa Predicted Line-ups
- Brentford (5-3-2) - Valdimarsson; Hickey, Ajer, Van den Berg, Pinnock, Henry; Jensen, Onyeka, Janelt; Schade, Ouattara
- Aston Villa (4-3-3) - Bizot; Cash, Lindelof, Torres, Maatsen; McGinn, Elliott, Bogarde; Malen, Guessand, Sancho
Brentford defeated Villa last month in the league and they are 6/4 (implied probability of 40%) to do so again in 90 minutes in this cup tie.
The two sides both drew their last respective Premier League games and the stalemate is available at 13/5.
Villa are yet to win a match this season but they have won three of their previous five meetings with Brentford in all competitions. They are also 6/4 to prevail in regulation time.
The visitors are yet to score a goal this campaign and BTTS - No is marketed at 11/8.
Despite this, Villa forward Ollie Watkins heads the anytime goalscorer market at 13/10, while Brentford striker Igor Thiago is priced at 13/8.
Brentford vs Aston Villa Stats
- Brentford beat Villa 1-0 in the Premier League last month
- Villa are yet to score in all competitions this season
Brentford to win (in 90 mins) @ 6/4
After losing Thomas Frank in the summer, as well as key players Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, I was concerned for Brentford heading into the season but they have delivered some good performances so far, and I think they could be set for another on Tuesday.
I think the hosts and Villa will both make plenty of changes here, and given how the Bees have had a better start to the season, alterations may better serve them. Villa are currently in a bit of a rut as they are yet to score a goal this season, with fans perplexed as to why they have started the season so poorly.
Brentford performed well against Chelsea last time out and they will head into this game with confidence, something they will also have from defeating the Villans here a few weeks ago.
As such, I think thee Bees are a good price to sting Emery's men again to advance into the next round.

Under 0.5 Aston Villa goals @ 3/1
Villa's troubles in front of goal have continued into a fourth consecutive game and supporters are starting to get a bit concerned given the club's attacking options. I don't think it is an issue that will prolong them for too long.
That being said, their current form makes this market attractive because for the time being, things just aren't clicking in the final third. I also don't think this will be helped if several changes to the team are made, producing an XI that is not particularly familiar playing with one another.
Brentford did excellently to nullify Villa's attacking players when they last met and I think they can do so again.
