Brentford entertain Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon (15:00) and Thomas Frank’s side are in desperate need of three points after winning just once this season.

This game will be a real marker of where they are at in the absence of Ivan Toney but we have picked out two goalscorer bets that might offer value for punters.

Brentford vs Burnley Betting Tips

  • Mathias Jensen to score anytime – 7/1

Match Odds

Brentford are the 8/11 favourites to win this contest. A draw is available at 13/5 and Burnley are priced at 7/2.

Team News

Toney remains out of action due to his suspension. Although he has returned to training, the England striker cannot feature in a competitive match for the Bees until 17 January. Frank also has a few players out injured which isn’t helping matters, with Mikkel Damsgaard, Kevin Schade, Josh Dasilva and Shandon Baptiste all in the treatment room.

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany has a few injury concerns of his own. Hjalmar Ekdal, Nathan Redmond, Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Michael Obafemi are all unavailable for the trip to west London.

Lyle Foster to score anytime @ 11/4

Kompany’s side have had a tough start to life in the Premier League with just one win in their first eight matches. They will have to improve drastically if they are to avoid an immediate return back to the Championship.

One player who has been performing well for the Clarets is striker Lyle Foster. The South African has three goals and two assists so far this season, and he missed two matches due to a suspension. Putting it plainly, Burnley are a much different team when he is in the side.

Foster plays like a traditional number nine and his all-round play is to be admired. Burnley are in need of bettering their points total, as are Brentford. And given the frailty shown by the Bees’ defence this term, Foster could inflict more misery on Frank and his side.

Mathias Jensen to score anytime @ 7/1

A player who can match Foster’s stats this term in the top flight is Brentford midfielder Mathias Jensen. The Danish star has been a key figure for the Bees in recent years and he has been stepping up to the plate in recent weeks as the form of both Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa has dipped.

Jensen has had three goal involvements in as many games, including two goals, against Everton and Manchester United. The midfield star currently carried Brentford’s biggest goal threat and he is one player Burnley cannot afford too much space to on Saturday.

As a consistent free-kick taker who has scored a few for his side, the Clarets will also need to be wary of the areas around the box in which they could give away punishable fouls because Jensen can be clinical in a dead ball situation.
