AFC Bournemouth are going through a bit of a sticky patch right now. Their FA Cup journey came to an end on Sunday as Manchester City came from behind to progress to the quarter-finals, while the Cherries are also winless in their past four Premier League games. They welcome strugglers Ipswich Town to the Vitality Stadium on Wednesday evening (19:45).

The Tractor Boys are currently nine points adrift of safety in the top flight (at the time of writing) and their winless streak in league is currently at nine matches. Below you will find my Bournemouth vs Ipswich Town predictions, supported by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

Bournemouth's Marcus Tavernier has suffered another injury setback at a time when he had bagged a couple of goals. He's picked up an ankle issue that will keep him out of action for a couple of weeks at least.

With him out of contention, Andoni Iraola is likely to persist with David Brooks, Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo as the attacking trio behind forward Evanilson.

After sitting out of the FA Cup clash with City due to suspension, duo Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez will be able to rejoin Lewis Cook and Illia Zabarnyi in the back four - and they will collectively shield on-loan Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Tyler Adams and Ryan Christie are expected to continue in the engine room, with both having been key players for the Cherries this term.

Bournemouth vs Ipswich Stats

  • BTTS has struck in six of Ipswich's last seven PL games
  • Justin Kluivert has 12 PL goals for Bournemouth

Ipswich are still having to cope with a couple of injuries themselves. Forward Conor Chaplin, who scored in the defeat to Bournemouth back in December, is out with a knee problem. He is joined in the medical bay by Sammie Szmodics, who is sidelined with an ankle issue.

Top scorer Liam Delap is available, though, and it looks likely that he will be supported by Julio Enciso in the number 10 role, with width being provided by Omari Hutchinson and Jaden Philogene.

Boss Kieran McKenna looks set to continue with a midfield pairing of Kalvin Phillips and Jens Cajuste.

Bournemouth vs Ipswich Odds

Bournemouth are the 2/5 favourites to win this contest despite only winning two of their last five home games in the top flight. You will find better value in combining this selection with both teams to score, which has struck in four of their previous five appearances in the league.

Bournemouth and BTTS is available at 7/4, which has an implied probability of 36.4%. BTTS alone is marketed at 4/5 (55.6%). The draw is on offer at 4/1.

Ipswich are winless in nine matches in the Premier League and have just two victories on their travels in 14 attempts. The Tractor Boys are 15/2 to prevail in Dorset to add further misery on to Iraola's side.

Bournemouth and both teams to score @ 7/4

The Cherries may be going through a bit of a rough patch at the moment, but it is nothing compared to what their opponents are going through. Ipswich's survival hopes are fading game-by-game and with nine matches without a win, they are now nine points away from safety.

Bournemouth have experienced some setbacks in recent weeks but they still possess a talented squad while also boasting one of the best managers in the division in Iraola. This feels like the perfect fixture for them to regain their confidence and get them back on the winning trail in the hunt for European football next term.

They're at home, which should give them the edge they require, while Ipswich have lost eight of their last nine fixtures in the top flight. Bournemouth won the reverse fixture at Portman Road by a 2-1 scoreline back in December, and I can envisage something similar unfolding on this occasion.

BTTS has struck in four of the Cherries' last five league games and it has been a winning selection in six of Ipswich's previous seven PL encounters.

Kalvin Phillips to receive a card @ 13/8

There is going to be a lot of frustration amongst Ipswich's players as their winless run has stretched to nine games. A trip to Bournemouth, despite the hosts' recent dip in form, is still going to be a tough task for McKenna's men.

For that reason, I think it may be sensible to look at the card markets for one of the Tractor Boys. Veteran midfielder Sam Morsy may seem the most viable candidate because he has eight bookings already in the Premier League, but my focus is on Phillips.

The Manchester City loanee looks more likely to start this contest, and he is also currently in a habit of picking up bookings. Phillips has been carded in three of his last four appearances in the league, including each of his last two.

With the way that Bournemouth like to break quickly on the turnover, I expect Phillips will be needed for a lot of defensive work on Wednesday, which is bound to include a number of fouls.
