Bournemouth vs Newcastle Prediction: Cherries can stun Toon Army

Newcastle United make the long trip to the Vitality Stadium to take on Bournemouth on Saturday evening (17:30).

Both sides are looking to bounce back from demoralising defeats, as the Cherries were slaughtered 6-1 at the Etihad last time out, while Newcastle were beaten 2-0 by Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

Alex Scott had to be withdrawn towards the end of the first half against Manchester City, and he's reportedly facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines until the new year.

Lewis Cook will return from suspension this weekend for the Cherries, but Tyler Adams, Ryan Fredericks, Emiliano Marcondes, Neto and Darren Randolph are all unavailable.

As for Newcastle, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes are both suspended , while former Bournemouth marksman Callum Wilson only lasted half an hour in midweek against Dortmund, so he's also unlikely to feature here.

In addition, none of Sven Botman , Dan Burn, Jacob Murphy, Alexander Isak, Matt Targett, Javi Manquillo or Harvey Barnes are expected to be seen before the international break.

Bournemouth are 18/5, while Newcastle are 4/6 to respond to their disappointing defeat in midweek and the draw can be backed at 3/1.

Over 2.5 goals is 8/13, while under 2.5 goals is priced up at 6/5, and if you think both teams will score, that's also 8/13.

Double chance - Bournemouth or draw @ 23/20

Bournemouth’s last outing was a 6-1 hammering at the hands of Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday, but they may be able to spring something of a shock back on home turf.

I've said this in a previous column, but I always feel like Newcastle are a completely different outfit away from home, and with them coming off a disappointing defeat against Borussia Dortmund, this may be a good time to take on the Magpies.

Eddie Howe's will face Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan in the space of 19 days, and performance levels have dropped in recent weeks.

In addition, injuries are piling up at St James’ Park and key men are missing through suspension, so I think playing the double chance - Bournemouth/draw market is a decent option here.

Dominic Solanke to score anytime @ 11/5

If the Cherries are to have any success here, then I expect Dominic Solanke to be at the heart of it.

Bournemouth have scored in their previous four matches, so I think they'll be able to create chances for their star striker against a Newcastle side that will no doubt feature some tired legs, after their European commitments.

Solanke has scored five times this term and is a handful for defences at the best of times - I fancy him to get on the scoresheet here.
