Borussia Dortmund vs Monterrey Bet Builder Tips: Mexicans to make game of it in 15/2 four-fold

The final fixture of the 2025 Fifa Club World Cup last-16 ties takes place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, on Wednesday (02:00 BST, DAZN/Betfred), as Borussia Dortmund meet Monterrey. The winner will advance to the quarter-finals, where they will face the victor of Tuesday's tie between Real Madrid and Juventus.
Below are my Borussia Dortmund vs Monterrey Bet Builder Tips, as I serve up an 11/2 four-fold, powered by a Spanish legend.

Total Goals Over/Under 3.5 - Under
Dortmund were involved in a seven-goal thriller against Mamelodi Sundowns, beating the South African side 4-3 in Cincinnati.
However, either side of that entertaining encounter at TQL Stadium, they laboured to a goalless draw with Fluminense in their Group F opener, and edged out Ulsan Hyundai 1-0 in their final match to clinch top spot.
Monterrey, meanwhile, ended their group stage with a 4-0 thrashing of the Urawa Red Diamonds, but had opened up Group G with a 1-1 draw against Inter Milan before playing out a 0-0 with River Plate.
We've seen a few high-scoring last-16 ties so far, but half (three) have seen two goals or fewer scored in regulation time, and I've little faith in Dortmund and Monterrey producing something spectacular in their match.
Rayados ground out a point in draws against Inter and River Plate, and while they hit four goals against Urawa, they were helped by the Reds having little to play for, and their final strike came in the seventh minute of second-half stoppage time.
Dortmund struck four times themselves in one game, firing four past Sundowns, but they were poor in the final third against Fluminense, and profligate in their slender victory over a poor Ulsan outfit.
Under 3.5 goals in regulation time looks like the obvious play here.
Double Chance - Draw or Monterrey
Neither Dortmund nor Monterrey have lost at this year's Club World Cup, with the Germans drawing their first group game and winning their next two, and the Mexicans experiencing back-to-back stalemates before beating Urawa.
Dortmund are odds-on favourites to win on Wednesday, and just 1/7 in the double chance market, so the value, for me, lies on the other side, with a draw or Monterrey win at 5/4.
Borussia Dortmund vs Monterrey Odds
I can get behind Rayados at least avoiding defeat in regulation time as they have already proven a tough nut to crack for a big-hitter in this season's Uefa Champions League finalists, Inter, who had to come from behind to rescue a point against Domenec Torrent's side. River Plate also found things difficult against Monterrey, failing to breach their back line despite taking 18 shots to their opponents' three.
Dortmund, meanwhile, haven't pulled up any trees at this tournament. They were second-best against Fluminense before falling behind to Sundowns and then nearly letting a three-goal lead slip at 4-1. Then, in their third match, they dominated Ulsan, firing 28 shots to the South Korean side's three, but despite hitting the target 11 times, they scored just once.
This could well be a tie that goes to extra time, so backing Monterrey in the double chance market makes sense to me.
Borussia Dortmund vs Monterrey Bet Builder Stats
- Under 3.5 goals landed in two of Dortmund's and Monterrey's group games
- Monterrey are unbeaten at this year's CWC (W1, D2)
- Sergio Ramos (MON) has recorded a shot in two of his three appearances
- Monterrey lost the corner count in all three group matches
Sergio Ramos (MON) Total Shots - 1+
Monterrey captain Sergio Ramos, who joined the Liga MX club earlier this year, made an instant impression at Rayados, scoring in three of his first four appearances. He added a fourth in his seventh match, a 2-1 defeat to Tigres on April 13, before having to wait a couple of months for his fifth strike, which came on the world stage as he opened the scoring against Inter at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
The 39-year-old scored with his only shot of the game against the Nerazzurri, and after failing to record an effort against River Plate, he popped up in the dying embers of his side's annihilation of Urawa with a header that was blocked.

Ramos averaged 2.1 shots per game in this year's Clausura for Monterrey, and in a do-or-die game on Wednesday, I'd be surprised if he didn't try his luck at goal at least once.
Most Corners - Borussia Dortmund
Monterrey lost the corner count in all three group games (4-6 v Inter, 2-9 v River Plate, 4-9 v Urawa), while Dortmund took the most corners in two of their matches (4-2 v Sundowns, 6-1 v Ulsan), only falling short against Fluminense (3-7).
Dortmund will be expected to take the game to their Mexican counterparts in Atlanta, while Rayados will probably be content to take the tie to extra time, so their forward forays may be limited to counter-attacks.
As a result, backing BVB to take more corners looks like a nice way to end this Bet Builder.
