Having dropped their first points of the Bundesliga season in a 1-1 draw with Bochum last time out, Borussia Dortmund look set to get back to winning ways when they host Heidenheim 1886 on Friday night.

After defeats to Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim in their first two games of the Bundesliga season, Heidenheim are becoming fully aware of the size of the challenge before them to remain in the German top-flight.

Borussia Dortmund vs Heidenheim 1886 Prediction

  • Borussia Dortmund to win and BTTS @ 11/8
  • Donyell Malen to score anytime @ 23/20

Team news

Dortmund have a few first-team players who will be unavailable for Friday’s encounter at Signal Iduna Park with Julien Duranville, Thomas Meunier and Giovanni Reyna all sidelined.

Duranville is currently recovering from a thigh injury, while Meunier and Reyna are dealing with hamstring and foot injuries respectively.

As for newly-promoted Heidenheim, the visitors have a couple of injury concerns that manager Frank Schmidt will have to deal with.

Defender Marnon Busch is out of action with a muscular problem, while Kosovan forward Elidon Qenaj will not make the trip to Dortmund as he recovers from cruciate ligament damage.

Borussia Dortmund to win and BTTS @ 11/8

Dortmund have not made the most convincing start under boss Edin Terzic this season, but they should be able to get back to winning ways on Friday night.

The loss of star midfielder Jude Bellingham was a big blow over the summer transfer window and BVB still seem to be adapting to life without the England international in the middle of the park.

Dortmund should be confident of getting the win this week, as their recent home form has been impressive in the Bundesliga.

A 16-game unbeaten league run at home, including 14 wins, shows the size of the task ahead of Heidenheim in trying to get something from this game.

However, Heidenheim might well have their moments in this contest and could well get on the scoresheet.

Dortmund have kept just four clean sheets in their last 14 Bundesliga games and Heidenheim should be able to get a BVB defence that struggled at times to contain FC Cologne and Bochum in their first two outings.

Donyell Malen to score anytime @ 23/20

A player who has made a bright start to the season, Dutch forward Donyell Malen is one to keep an eye on in the goalscorer market.

Dortmund have scored just two goals in their first two league games of the season and both have come from the 24-year-old Malen.

The former Arsenal academy product made his name in the Netherlands with PSV Eindhoven and is now a key figure in the Dortmund attack.

At 23/20, Malen is worth considering in the anytime goalscorer market.
