Nicolo Casale and Remo Freuler are both out for Bologna, with the pair expected to be back in the mix come the turn of the calendar.
Casale is missing due to a thigh injury, while the Swiss midfielder suffered a broken collarbone against Parma in early November.
Inter defender Francesco Acerbi will return in January after a thigh problem, while Denzel Dumfries is out for another three months following an ankle operation.
Chivu will again be choosing between Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny in the forward line.
Bologna vs Inter Milan Predicted Lineups
- Bologna: Ravaglia; Holm, Heggem, Lucumí, Miranda; Moro, Pobega; Bernardeschi, Odgaard, Rowe; Castro
- Inter: Sommer; Bisseck, Akanji, Bastoni; Luis Henrique, Barella, Zielinski, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, L Martinez
Inter are highly-fancied favourites at 8/13, with Bologna 4/1 to get back on the bike after losing to Juventus at the Dall’Ara last time out.
The draw is 11/4, with Inter 4/11 to win the tie whether in 90 minutes or by penalty kicks. The Rossoblu are 2/1 to progress to the final by whatever mean necessary.
Bologna vs Inter Milan Stats
- Both sides have played in 5 Serie A games this season featuring Over 3.5 Goals
- 5 of the last 11 meetings in the top flight have finished with Over 3.5 Goals
- Ange-Yoan Bonny has netted 5 goals in 465 minutes against Italian opposition in 2025/26 (1 every 93 mins)
Over 3.5 Goals @ 9/4
Two of the top three scorers in the league, these sides also don’t do much to bolt the gate defensively.
Inter games in Serie A have involved a league-high 48 goals, while Bologna are ninth in the same metric with 23 scored and 13 conceded.
Chuck in the fact that goals are regularly on the cards when these two meet, and we likely have a back-and-forth contest ahead of us.
It’s 9/4 – at an implied 30.8% probability – for this one to feature four or more goals, which has occurred in 33.3% of these teams’ matches this season and 45.4% of their recent meetings.
The stats call this value, and so do I.

Ange-Yoan Bonny Last Goalscorer @ 9/2
Bonny is becoming the archetypal supersub at Inter. He has almost as many goals (five) as starts (six) in all competitions, and four of those have been the final word in Nerazzurri fixtures.
The likelihood of Chivu picking Bonny over Martinez or Thuram from the start is slim, but I love what the Frenchman brings as a substitute when opposition defences begin to tire.
So a fifth occurrence of Bonny netting the last goal at 9/2 looks great to me.
