History awaits Panama at the Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida on Tuesday (02:00, Premier Sports 2), with Los Canaleros one game away from reaching their first-ever Copa America quarter-final in just their second competition appearance.

Bolivia are their opponents on Tuesday but Panama will also be keeping an eye on the game being played simultaneously between the USA and Uruguay. Read below for my Bolivia vs Panama prediction and all the latest team news going into this monumental match for the CONCACAF nation.

State of play

Technically, Bolivia can still qualify as Group C runners-up, as a victory over Panama, coupled with Uruguay beating the USA, would see La Verde join the USA and Panama on three points.

However, they would require a big goal swing to edge in front of the other two teams after losing 2-0 to the USA in their opening game and 5-0 to Uruguay in their second.

Panama, meanwhile, have qualification in their sights. Their only previous appearance at a Copa America came in 2016 when they finished third in their group - behind Argentina and Chile and ahead of Bolivia - but they now have a golden chance to reach the quarter-finals.

After losing 3-1 to Uruguay, Panama recovered from an early USA goal to beat the 10-man tournament hosts 2-1 last Thursday, a result which leaves them tied on three points with the Stars and Stripes heading into Tuesday, but behind on goal difference (Panama -1, USA +1).

As such, Panama must match the USA's result and recover two goals. So, if the USA beat Uruguay by a single goal, Panama must win by a margin of three or more against Bolivia, though a victory would be enough if their second-place rivals fail to oversee a victory, and even a draw would suffice should the USA lose to La Celeste.

Team News

There are no suspensions or injuries for Bolivia but there could be some changes to the starting XI after their thrashing at the hands of Uruguay.

Marcelo Suarez was introduced at the start of the second half at the expense of Roberto Fernandez in that game and must be pushing for a starting berth this time around, just like Jaume Cuellar and Adalid Terrazas, who were both thrown on later in the match.

Panama will be without influential midfielder Adalberto Carrasquilla after the Houston Dynamo ace was sent off during the latter stages of his country's victory over the USA.

Freddy Gondola could replace the 25-year-old, while Jose Fajardo is in contention to start after netting the winner last week.

Bolivia are underdogs to get the three points on Tuesday with odds of 4/1 giving them an implied win probability of 20%, while Panama are 4/7, or a 63.6% chance, to get the victory they crave.

The draw is available at 11/4, both teams to score at 10/11, and over 3.5 goals at 5/2.

Panama forward Ismael Diaz is yet to make an appearance at the 2024 Copa America but is 8/5 favourite to score anytime, with Fajardo next in the running at 13/8.

Panama to win to nil @ 6/4

Panama can be proud of their defensive efforts so far this tournament, having restricted Uruguay to just a single goal before the 85th minute. Darwin Nunez and Matias Vina subsequently added to Maximiliano Araujo's 16th-minute opener in that game before Michael Murillo struck a consolation in added time, while the USA - albeit down to 10 men for the majority of the match - scored just once as Panama beat them 2-1 last time out.

The Stars and Stripes were restricted to just six shots, which should give further encouragement to Panama ahead of a contest with a goal-shy Bolivia side.

Bolivia are yet to score at Copa America, registering just eight shots across defeats to the USA and Uruguay, and they've scored just once in their last five games including three international friendlies in June. There is a real lack of firepower in the Bolivia frontline after the retirement of all-time top scorer Marcelo Moreno, and that has been all too evident so far.

Panama know a goalless draw would send them through if Uruguay beat the USA, so I expect them to keep things tight and ensure they keep a clean sheet.

However, they won't want to rely on a La Celeste outfit who have pretty much already sealed top spot in the group, so victory over Bolivia is vital, not least to put pressure onto the USA in their game.

Bolivia did find the net in a 2-1 friendly defeat to Panama last August, but with so much on the line on Tuesday, I think Panama will win and shut out their opponents.

Panama to win to nil vs Bolivia at 6-4

Team with most booking points - Panama @ 11/5

The aforementioned head-to-head between these sides last year saw 70 booking points awarded - 40 to Bolivia for four yellow cards (10 points per yellow) and 40 to Panama for three yellows - while La Verde have been awarded the most booking points in each of their first two group games at Copa America.

However, there is very little riding on Tuesday's game for Bolivia, and so much for Panama, who were also given the most booking points in their matches against Uruguay and the USA.

Therefore, I'm backing Panama to emerge with the most booking points here, with tactical fouls and timewasting all likely to come into play if they are winning.
