Bodo/Glimt vs Twente Prediction: Berg to bag again

Twente's 2-1 victory over Bodo/Glimt in the first leg of their Uefa Europa League knockout phase play-off tie last week has set up a fascinating return fixture at Aspmyra Stadion on Thursday (17:45, TNT Sports 6). The Norwegian hosts need to win to at least force extra time, while their Dutch counterparts will progress to the last 16 if they just avoid defeat in Bodo.

Daniel Bassi (thigh), Syver Skeide (knee) and Gaute Vetti (ankle) all miss out on Thursday's game for Bodo/Glimt through injury, while Samuel Burakovsky (unspecified) is a doubt.

With the 2025 Eliteserien season yet to get underway, the reigning Norwegian league champions have had a full week to prepare for this second leg, meaning head coach Kjetil Knutsen could name the same starting XI that lined up at De Grolsch Veste in Enschede.

Considering his side lost, though, Knutsen may be tempted into a couple of changes.

Isak Maatta provided the assist for Patrick Berg's goal in the first leg and the 23-year-old midfielder could earn a promotion from the bench on Thursday.

Younes Taha (broken leg) misses out again for Twente, who are unable to field mid-season signing Gerald Alders as the Ajax loanee hasn't been added to their Europa League squad.

Sam Lammers was an unused substitute in the first leg but made his return from a seven-game injury absence on Sunday, opening the scoring in the 28th minute to help his side to a 2-0 win over Waalwijk.

However, Lammers may make way up top for Ricky van Wolfswinkel, who struck a dramatic late winner from the penalty spot in the first leg.

Bodo/Glimt vs Twente Odds

Bodo/Glimt won three of their four league phase games at home and the four-time Norwegian champions are 19/20, or a 51.3% chance, to get the victory they need to at least force extra time on Thursday. Twente, meanwhile, are 12/5 to do the double, implying a 29.4% probability.

The draw, which would be enough to take Twente through to the last 16, is priced at 3/1, and both teams to score at 4/7.

Bodo/Glimt are 11/8 to win the tie by any means, with the visitors 8/15 in the same market.

Berg looked like being the hero for Bodo/Glimt in Enschede as he levelled the scores on 85 minutes, only for Van Wolfswinkel to successfully convert a penalty 10 minutes later.

That strike in the Netherlands was the 27-year-old's second of this Europa League campaign; his first came in another 2-1 defeat at home to Qarabag on November 7.

Berg netted nine times in 29 Eliteserien appearances last year, five more than his previous highest-scoring league season in 2020, and in Bodo/Glimt's 2023/24 Europa Conference League campaign, he scored four goals in 14 games, so he has pedigree in Europe.

Considering he managed to plot a way past Twente's defence in the first leg, and his side are chasing the tie, 13/5 looks good value for the Norway international to get on the scoresheet again this week.
