Blackpool vs wigan

Three defeats on the bounce has seen Blackpool slip down the League One table and the Tangerines will be looking nervously over their shoulder at the relegation places.

Wigan are one of only six sides below Blackpool in the third-tier table and the Latics make their trip to the seaside in pretty poor form. It has been back-to-back League One defeats for Shaun Maloney’s men and Wigan will be hoping to get back to winning ways and move away from the bottom of the table.

Under 2.5 goals @ 5/6

It’s a little early in the season to be worrying about relegation, but Blackpool and Wigan have both slipped into the bottom third of the League One table.

Blackpool have lost three games on the bounce and clearly Tuesday’s 5-1 defeat at Peterborough is a major cause for concern. However, Steve Bruce’s men have generally proved difficult to beat at Bloomfield Road and Wigan could struggle to break the Seasiders down.

Wigan have failed to score in six of their last eight matches and 11 of the Latics’ 15 all-competition games have gone under 2.5 goals.

Maloney’s men have found the net only five times in six away League One matches this term, and that’s no real surprise, given that the Latics have hit only five shots on target in their previous three third-tier road trips.

Backing under 2.5 goals may not be the most entertaining punt, but at 5/6, it rates a pretty solid Bloomfield Road bet.

Blackpool to win 1-0 @ 6/1

Blackpool are unlikely to tower over their rivals on Monday night, but at 6/1, a chance can be taken on the Seasiders snatching a narrow victory.

Wigan don’t score many goals, but for all of the Latics’ troubles hitting the net, Maloney’s men haven’t conceded more than two goals in any game this season.

In fact, Wigan boast the best defence in League One with just nine goals conceded in 12 matches, but it’s difficult to want to side with a team with such poor goalscoring output.

Blackpool have scored only three goals in their last four matches, but Bloomfield Road has proved a happy hunting ground for the Tangerines this season and they are taken to secure a narrow victory.
