Blackpool vs Huddersfield Prediction: Terriers to maintain flawless start

Opposite ends of League 1 collide on Saturday (15:00) as lowly Blackpool host table-topping Huddersfield Town at Bloomfield Road. The Tangerines have lost their opening two games, while the Terriers have scored five goals without reply to sit top of the third tier in this early stage of the season.

Team News
Seasiders boss Steve Bruce faces his old team with injuries continuing to hamper his team selection. This game may come too soon for midfielder Albie Morgan who has been badly missed in the opening three games of the season. Bruce is also unable to call on the talents of James Husband, Fraser Horsfall and Danny Imray.
Blackpool vs Huddersfield Stats
- There have been over 2.5 goals scored in eight of Blackpool's last 10 games
- Huddersfield have scored over two goals in their last three games away at Bloomfield Road
Lee Grant may have had the dream start to life in West Yorkshire and he will be comforted by the depth of his squad, after the loss of left wing-back Mickel Miller after suffering a hamstring issue. Miller missed four months of last year with a knee problem and the Terriers will badly miss a player of his ability.
However, summer signing Marcus McGuane could be back in contention to make his debut for the club, following a move from Bristol City.
Blackpool vs Huddersfield Odds
Blackpool are as short as 7/4 despite their slow start to the season. The draw is marketed at 9/4, which was the result here on the west coast last season. Meanwhile the Terriers are the slight favourites at 6/4, suggesting a 40% chance of a third straight victory.
Goals look fairly likely with both teams to score priced at 8/11 and over 2.5 goals at even money. League 1 top goalscorer favourite Alfie May is the favourite to score anytime at 9/5.
Huddersfield to win to nil @ 10/3
It's hard to get too excited as a Town fan, despite the brilliant start to the Lee Grant era. It wasn't too long ago that another new manager, Michael Duff, was sat up near the top of the table following an impressive start to the season and we all know how that ended up. That said, there does seem to be something of a new dawn at Huddersfield and anyone who has watched the opening games can't fail to be excited by the quality on show.
Chairman and owner Kevin Nagle took some serious pelters on his beloved social media following his takeover of the club, sacking of club legend Neil Warnock and subsequent relegation under failures Darren Moore and Andre Breitenreiter. The appointment of Duff looked to be working for a while but the plug was pulled after a poor run of form and the gamble on academy boss Jon Worthington was disastrous.
However, no one can accuse the Californian businessman of getting cold feet and he has doubled down with a string of high-profile signings including the prolific Alfie May, who they were so close to tying up last year before Birmingham City stole him from under their noses.
That ambition looks to be paying off early with the Terriers playing attractive attacking football under Kieran McKenna's old protege and the backline has looked extremely durable thus far.
I'm banking on that stability at the back to continue and like the look of town to keep another clean sheet in victory on the Fylde coast. Bruce's side look undercooked heading into the season and Huddersfield should sweep them away in front of a sell-out away contingent.

Cameron Ashia to score @ 16/5
Despite all the high-profile signings, the name on everyone's lips in HD1 is a certain Cameron Ashia, who was let go by Derby County U18's in 2023 and has been with Huddersfield's B team ever since. A short loan spell with Torquay last season didn't really see any trees being pulled up but Ashia looks to have found favour under new boss Grant.
After coming on as a sub against Reading, the 18-year-old scored a lovely goal before an even better strike against Leicester in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday really got the Town faithful excited. The left winger loves to cut in and take a pot shot and if he starts here, this looks a cracking price after two goals in two starts.
