Having conceded in the 97th minute to lose at Plymouth Argyle, Blackburn Rovers have been forced to stew over the international break and reflect on back-to-back defeats after a surprisingly bright start to the season. They will return to action against Swasea City at Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon (15:00) as Luke Williams’ side search for a spark in front of goal.

It would take something special for either of these teams to gatecrash the play-off picture this season, but we should still get a decent clash on Saturday afternoon. Below you can find my Blackburn vs Swansea prediction with team news and betting tips.

Blackburn vs Swansea Betting Tips

  • Blackburn to win to nil @ 12/5
  • Blackburn 1-0 Swansea @ 13/2

Team News

After a month on the sidelines, Callum Brittain looks set to make the matchday squad in a boost to John Eustace. It looks like, for the first time this season, Blackburn will have a completely fit squad with no injury issues to report. It means competition for places will be fierce, with Todd Cantwell, Joe Rankin-Costello and Yuki Ohashi all pushing to get back into the XI.

Swansea are sweating on the fitness of Eom Ji-Sung after he suffered a knee injury on international duty, and it feels likely that he will miss this one when you consider the travel on top of the knee issue he has picked up. Nathan Tjoe-A-On featured for Indonesia on Tuesday and is also likely to miss out but the Welsh contingent who beat Montenegro on Monday should all be fine. Josh Cullen and Ben Cabango started in that success while Joe Allen and Oli Cooper were named as subs.

Blackburn vs Swansea Odds

Blackburn are priced at 19/20 to win this game, with Swansea available at 5/2. Meanwhile, a draw can be backed at 23/10, over 2.5 goals is 5/6 and BTTS is 8/11. Yuki Ohashi and Makhtar Gueye are joint-favourites to open the scoring at 11/2.

Blackburn to win to nil @ 12/5

Swansea have seriously struggled at Ewood Park over their history, only winning once there in the last 53 years. However, that victory came last October in Michael Duff’s final victory in charge of the Welsh outfit, but I don’t think Williams will be able to repeat the feat.

Rovers have won four from four at home so far this season, with Derby, Oxford, Bristol City and QPR all coming away empty-handed from Ewood. It’s not been the most difficult start to the campaign, but I will back them to beat Swansea here, especially with a fully-fit squad at their disposal. I think we can boost our odds as well by backing Rovers to keep a clean sheet.

Swansea have failed to score in their last two outings and have only managed one goal in their last three. It’s a problem Williams needs to solve, but Eustace has got an experienced defence that can deal with the threats that Swansea pose.

Blackburn 1-0 Swansea @ 13/2

Let’s plump for a correct score here given what we know so far. I think Blackburn will just shade this one and it won’t be a classic. There’s not a lot to choose between these two and I think they will end up in around about the same position come May, but Swansea’s lack of goalscoring is a concern right now.

Given we’ve already backed Blackburn to keep a clean sheet, I think we can push it further and back a simple 1-0 scoreline. At odds of 13/2, I think we are getting good value on a narrow home win. Rovers can make it five from five on Saturday.
