There’s a raft of European football taking place across the continent in midweek and we think we’ve spotted a bit of value in the battle of Britain clash between Hibernian and Aston Villa. It forms our bet of the day for Wednesday 23rd August.

It’s been on odd start to the season for Unai Emery’s men, losing 5-1 to Newcastle on the opening weekend, before clawing all that goal difference immediately back, with a clinical 4-0 demolition of Everton.

Hibs, meanwhile, sit second bottom in the Scottish Premiership, after two disappointing losses to St Mirren and Motherwell.

That poor start may have stemmed from the fact that Hibs have been in European competition since 27th July, with this their fifth tie in the Conference League.

Aston Villa to win to Nil – 21/20

Villa played some superb stuff against a very poor looking Everton side and will have gone a long way to erasing that opening day walloping on Tyneside from their short term memory.

A trip north of the border is never an easy task for an English side, in front of a raucous home crowd but I think the Villans can make easy work of this tie.

With several of the Villa squad out injured, it seems unlikely that Emery will make sweeping changes for this one, meaning the hugely impressive Moussa Diaby can continue his partnership alongside Ollie Watkins.

They should have too much for Hibs and I’d be surprised if Lee Johnston’s men can breach the Villa defence.
