Football Bet of the Day: Tractor Boys to rev their engines for one last push

Ipswich Town can put themselves in the driving seat for automatic promotion  from the Championship on Tuesday night (20:00) when they travel to face Coventry City at the CBS Arena. The Tractor Boys are currently level on points with Leeds United after their draw with Hull City on Saturday and Leeds' defeat to Queens Park Rangers on Friday night.

A win over the fatigued Sky Blues would put them three points ahead of the Whites heading into the final weekend, with Ipswich facing Huddersfield Town, who are relegated in all but name, on home soil, while Leeds take on Southampton. Kieran McKenna's men have a huge incentive to get the win in midweek and Tuesday's football bet of the day comes from this offering from the second tier.

Football Bet of the Day: Tuesday, 30 April

Ipswich and both teams to score @ 2/1

After suffering Wembley heartache in their FA Cup semi-final defeat against Manchester United over a week ago, Coventry's play-off hopes were dashed with a defeat and a draw to Hull City and Blackburn Rovers respectively.

Tired legs are showing among the Sky Blues' ranks which gives Ipswich an excellent opportunity to get back to winning ways and give themselves the best chance of sealing promotion without having to go through the nerve-shredding play-offs.

Ipswich have been known this season for their late goals and never give up attitude. It has served them well throughout the campaign as they sit on the cusp of a long-awaited return to the Premier League.

In 15 of their victories this year, both teams to score has also landed, and that is why I like the look of backing them to win here as well as boosting the odds with BTTS. For as good as the Tractor Boys have been offensively, with 88 goals scored, they have been suspect defensively with 56 conceded, which is far greater than that of Leicester City and Leeds.

McKenna's men have been on a disappointing run of late with three consecutive draws, but they will hope that they can bounce back and claim a valuable three points at the CBS Arena. Coventry have won just one of their last five matches in the league and their goalless draw with Blackburn Rovers at the weekend ended a three-game losing streak.

The Sky Blues have nothing to fight for in their remaining two games, whereas it's all to play for from an Ipswich point of view. That is why I think the Tractor Boys can end their own winless run and clinch a potentially season-defining three points. We have already mentioned the fatigue aspect for Coventry, and this will only be worsened as they gear up to play their fourth game in the space of 11 days.

The Tractor Boys had a two-week hiatus from footballing action because they were supposed to face Coventry on the weekend of the FA Cup semi-finals, and so I'm expecting their players to have a lot more energy in comparison to the hosts, which strengthens their chances of victory.

But because they do not have the best defensive record in the league, I do see Coventry getting on the scoresheet as they boast the likes of Ellis Simms and Haji Wright, who have both been regular sources of goals this term.

Ipswich and both teams to score at 2/1 Betfred are running their famed Double Delight & Hat-trick Heaven offer on this match, meaning that if a player scores first and then nets again, you will be paid at double the odds. If he grabs a hat-trick, you will be paid at treble the odds!
