We are into the penultimate fixtures from the Danish Superliga Championship round and Tuesday sees FC Copenhagen travel to face Aarhus at Ceres Park Arena, with a kick-off time of 18:00. The visitors' title hopes were dented as they lost to FC Midtjylland on Thursday. The Wolves are now top of the table and three points ahead of Copenhagen, so the Lions need to come away with a win here.

With so much on the line, my football bet of the day comes from this clash, and it is weighted in the favour of the visiting team because they still have a shot at the crown, while Aarhus' season is already at an end.

Football Bet of the Day: Tuesday, May 21

  • #PickYourPunt - Copenhagen to win, over 2.5 goals & Elyounoussi to score @ 15/2

There is no denying Copenhagen have their work cut out for them if they are to win their third Superliga title in a row. Last week's defeat could serve as a hammer blow, but the reigning champions will still be believing that they can get the job done.

All they can do is focus on their task in hand, but they will also be hoping that Midtjylland slip up in their match with Nordsjaelland on Monday, which could present them with an opportunity to move to the top of the table on goal difference, which is far superior than the league leaders.

Jacob Neestrup will have analysed what went wrong for his side in the defeat and will be desperate to correct the mistakes for this crunch clash against Aarhus. What should give him and his players confidence is the fact the hosts have lost their last five Championship round clashes, including a 3-2 defeat to Copenhagen at Parken just under a month ago.

Uwe Rosler's side are fifth and that is as high as they can finish now. They have nothing but pride to play for but Copenhagen's desire and need for a win should see them triumph here. My bet of the day is a bet builder using Betfred's #PickYourPunt feature and it contains three legs.

What kicks us off is Copenhagen to win. I think that is self-explanatory. They've beaten the hosts in the play-offs already but they did take four points off them in the regular season. However, their current form is abysmal and they will be wanting this season to end as soon as possible.

Having won the last two league titles, that winning mentality should play a huge part for Copenhagen and they will know exactly what they need to do to get the vital three points here.

The next leg is over 2.5 goals and I have gone for that because Copenhagen did only edge last month's victory over Aarhus, which had a 3-2 scoreline. And considering the hosts have found the back of the net in all meetings with the Lions this term, I can see that trend continuing here, which is always helpful to a total goals selection.

It is also worth noting that over 2.5 goals has landed in 70% (21/30) of Copenhagen's Superliga clashes this campaign, so everything would point towards us seeing a volume of goals on Tuesday evening.

The final leg is Mohamed Elyounoussi to score anytime. The former Southampton midfielder has had an impressive year in the Danish capital, scoring nine goals in the Superliga, with three coming in the Championship round.

Those goals in the play-offs have also come in his last three outings, including a brace against Silkeborg. He heads into this clash with confidence and after Thursday's loss, he will feel the onus to help put his team in the best position heading into the final weekend of fixtures.

I think he offers good value to get on the scoresheet because he has delivered goals in some big games this season, as seen by his three goals from his eight Champions League appearances, as he netted against Manchester United and Manchester City.

In a game with such high stakes, I fancy the Norwegian to thrive off the pressure and add another goal to his impressive tally.
