Salford City entertain fellow League Two side Stockport County, in their second group-stage game of the EFL Trophy on Tuesday evening (19:30) at the Peninsula Stadium.

Football Bet of the Day

  • Salford to beat Stockport @ 2/1

Salford made it three wins on the spin with their 4-2 victory over Crewe Alexandra at the Peninsula Stadium at the weekend, so they come into this match against their local rivals in good form.

The Ammies have endured a difficult start to the season, but have turned things around to an extent in recent weeks, beating Newport County and Sutton United prior to the victory over Crewe.

Their opponents on Tuesday have also been in excellent form, beating Doncaster Rovers at the weekend to make it six consecutive wins, as well as seven games unbeaten.

Salford are currently bottom of Group D after losing their opening EFL Trophy game against Bolton Wanderers, while Stockport lost on penalties to Manchester United’s U-21s.

The visitors have won two of the last four meetings between the sides, however, Salford won the most recent encounter between the sides at the Peninsula Stadium.

Looking at the formbook, it’s easy to see why Stockport are favourites for this game, but I think 2/1 is cracking value for backing a Salford side that have shown an upturn in form in recent weeks.
