Football Bet of the Day: Visitors to shut out struggling Shrews

Thursday night sees Shrewsbury Town welcome in-form Exeter City to Croud Meadow (20:00, live on Sky Sports Main Event) for what is set to be a thrilling League 1 contest.
This game is the focus of my football bet of the day for Thursday, as the Shrews will be targeting back-to-back wins for the first time this season, while Exeter have picked up 10 points from their last four league outings.
Football Bet of the Day - Thursday, October 17
- Exeter to win to nil @ 3/1
Paul Hurst’s side snapped a six-game winless streak with an epic 5-3 win over newly-promoted Crawley Town last weekend, and while that victory has moved the Shrews up to 21st place in the standings, they are still languishing in the relegation zone. However, a win here would see them move up to 19th.
The Shropshire-based outfit led, then fell behind just after the hour despite a man advantage, but four goals in the last 18 minutes was enough to see them secure a vital three points against the Red Devils.
The triumph over Crawley was only Shrewsbury's second league victory in 11 attempts this season, and their most recent outing at Croud Meadow was one to forget - a 4-0 thumping at the hands of Birmingham City in the EFL Trophy.

Exeter, meanwhile, come into Thursday's contest well-rested, as there were only two League 1 fixtures during the international break and the Grecians weren't one of the four teams in action.
The visitors resume the campaign four points adrift of the automatic promotion spots with a game in-hand on second-placed Wrexham, with their most recent result being a 1-0 victory over Cambridge United.
Since a narrow defeat to Blackpool last month, Gary Caldwell's side have strung together a five-game unbeaten streak across League 1 and the EFL Trophy.
The Grecians' defence has been key to their early-season success, winning six of their last eight games across all competitions, shipping just three goals during that run.
In fact, Caldwell's men have gone five games without conceding, and I struggle to see Shrewsbury’s attack laying a glove on Exeter here, especially given their impressive defensive record up until this point.
That's why I'm taking Exeter to win to nil at 3/1.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
