Spain host Scotland in a Euro 2024 qualifier on Thursday night hoping to avenge the 2-0 defeat they suffered against their opponents in the reverse fixture in Glasgow back in March.

Scotland have been phenomenal in their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign. Steve Clarke’s side have won all five of their matches so far, including the impressive win over Spain at Hampden Park earlier in the year.

La Roja will feel that they have to beat the Scots and avenge that previous defeat in their next encounter on Thursday to bolster their chances of qualifying for next summer’s tournament in Germany.

Scotland will provide Spain with another tough test at Estadio de La Cartuja and one player that they will be wary of after their previous meeting is Scott McTominay. The versatile midfielder has found his game time limited at Manchester United but he remains a key figure for his national team.

McTominay has scored six goals in five qualifiers in this campaign, including a stunning brace against Spain back in March. This is why they will be wary of him when they meet again on Thursday.

What won’t help their concerns is the fact that the player comes into this international break having been a hero for the Red Devils. With Manchester United losing 1-0 at home to Brentford last Saturday, McTominay scored twice in injury time from the bench to snatch three points for his side. He will most definitely be pumped up for his trip to Spain with Scotland.

Can he haunt the Spaniards yet again?
