Bolivia take on Colombia in a World Cup qualifier on Thursday (21:00), with the visitors yet to taste defeat. They are eight games unbeaten in qualifying and they have won three of their last five.

The hosts have also won three of their last five but they have also been beaten the same number of times in this qualifying campaign. The last time these two sides met came in a friendly before this summer's Copa America, which Colombia won 3-0. I think there will be goals on offer here, so it is from this game that comes my football bet of the day.

Football Bet of the Day - Thursday, October 10

  • Bet Builder - Colombia to win, over 2.5 goals, and Luiz Diaz to score anytime @ 6/1

Bolivia vs Colombia Odds

I have gone a bit creative for today's pick, opting for a bet builder for this South American clash. Colombia are going well in qualifying and they find themselves just two points behind reigning world champions Argentina.

Los Cafeteros are going to keep applying the pressure on La Albiceleste but for that to happen, they need to keep winning games, and their victory over them last month has certainly helped. I don't think this will be a problem for them considering they comfortably defeated Bolivia just a couple of months ago.

It may have only been a friendly but Nestor Lorenzo's side applied themselves like they would in a competitive match, but they might even find another gear in this level of fixture.

The bet builder starts with Colombia to win. I feel as though their squad is far stronger than their hosts and this should again be a comfortable win for them. They will be riding high after their triumph over Argentina and they will be smelling blood ahead of this clash with Bolivia.

If they can beat the world and Copa America champions, they will perceive this clash with Bolivia as a less challenging exercise. That's not to say Bolivia are terrible. They have scored more goals (10) than the visitors (9) in qualifying, but this can quickly change after Thursday's encounter.

However, their home form has been strong of late, winning their last three matches on home soil, and their last fixture saw them hammer Venezuela 4-0. Colombia may have to be wary of the move to a higher altitude as it could play into the hosts' hands.

Nontheless, I am expecting this to be a test from which the visitors pass. With the likes of Luis Diaz and James Rodriguez in attack, I think Colombia will have too much for Bolivia and I think they will pick up another valuable three points.

Football Odds

The second leg is over 2.5 goals in the match. Los Cafeteros managed this threshold single-handedly when these two teams met in June, and with the players that I have mentioned above, they are certainly not short of firepower.

Liverpool winger Diaz has three goals in qualifying so far, and Uruguay's Darwin Nunez (five) has scored more than him. Diaz has started the season brilliantly in the Premier League and he will be looking to continue that form while on international duty.

It's also worth noting that over 2.5 goals landed in Colombia's last outing, which was their 2-1 victory over Argentina. We have also seen at least three goals scored in five of Bolivia's last six matches in all competitions, so I think there will be no shortage of goals on offer at Municipal Stadium El Alto.

The final leg of the bet builder is Diaz to score anytime. The Premier League duo have been performing brilliantly so far for their respective clubs in 2024/25. Diaz has scored five goals in seven league appearances.

Both head into this clash full of confidence and with plenty of goals scored in the opening months of the domestic campaign. Bolivia have conceded a minimum of three goals in five of their last seven matches in all competitions, so these two Colombian stars will be sensing an opportunity to add to their international tallies on Thursday.

Overall, I am expecting this to be a comfortable victory for Colombia and one in which I can see them racking up a few goals. Their tails are up after the last international break, and they want to ensure they are waiting for any further slip-ups from Argentina at the top of the table.

I think this 6/1 bet builder offers excellent value for contest and is certainly something to consider ahead of kick-off on Thursday night.
