Football Bet of the Day: Man City to score for fun against Huddersfield

Manchester City take on Huddersfield Town at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon (14:00) in the FA Cup third round. There is a huge gulf in class between the reigning champions and their Championship opponents, and the Terriers could be in for a rough afternoon in Manchester.
We may be expecting Pep Guardiola to make several changes with his lineup but no matter who plays, they will have too much quality for Huddersfield. So that is why we have picked a market in their favour as our bet of the day.
Football Bet of the Day - Sunday 7 January
- Over 4.5 Man City goals - 13/8
Manchester City will like the idea of coming up against Championship strugglers Huddersfield in their first crack at trying to defend their FA Cup title, and they will see it as an excellent opportunity to score quite a few goals as they seek to improve their position in the Premier League title race.
Over the past 18 months, as Erling Haaland has amazed the footballing world with his Midas touch in front of goal for the Cityzens, many have labelled Guardiola's side too dependent on him to provide the goals.
This is an unfair assessment because their are several goalscorers within their ranks that can deliver the goods, just not quite at Haaland's level. There is the likes of Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez, Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish, who can all share the goalscoring burden when the Norwegian striker is out of action.
And against the Terriers, those of them that will feature should be given a fair few chances at goal. This is because Huddersfield have not been great defensively this year. They have conceded 44 goals in the Championship and only two teams have let in more goals (Blackburn Rovers and Rotherham United).
So coming up against Guardiola's side, who will look to move the ball around them with ease, they will find it extremely difficult to register a clean sheet in this one. The hosts themselves have enjoyed two games across all competitions this term in which they have scored at least five goals, and they will fancy themselves to hit that figure for a third time against Darren Moore's team.
It is also worth noting that Man City have scored over 4.5 goals against Huddersfield twice since 2017. They beat them 5-1 in the FA Cup quarter-finals in 2017 and then posted a 6-1 victory against them in the Premier League the following year. Both those games also took place at the Etihad Stadium.
We fancy history to repeat itself in this fixture and that is why we think you will find great value in backing over 4.5 goals at 13/8 in this FA Cup clash.
