Football Bet of the Day: Palmeiras to punish poor travellers Cruzeiro

Sunday's football bet of the day comes from Sao Paulo as Palmeiras host Cruzeiro at Allianz Parque (01:00), with four points currently separating the sides in the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A.
The visitors haven't tasted success at this ground since a cup victory in September 2021, losing all three games subsequent games there, and have their work cut out to stop the rot on Sunday.
Football Bet of the Day - Sunday, July 21
- Palmeiras to beat Cruizero & over 1.5 total goals @ 11/10
A 1-0 defeat away to Botafogo ended Palmeiras' July unbeaten run which had seen them win three and draw one, but the reigning Serie A champions return to action on Sunday and will be confident of getting back to winning ways in front of their home supporters.
Palmeiras have won their last six games at Allianz Parque, keeping three clean sheets, and are unbeaten at home since a 2-0 defeat to Athletico Paranaense on May 12. Only Cruzeiro, Bahia and Fortaleza (21) have picked up more points at home than the Verdao (19), who were formidable in Sao Paulo last season, with only Gremio able to match the 44 home points they accrued.
Cruzeiro were among their victims at Allianz Parque last year as Sunday's visitors fell to a 1-0 defeat there last August - Flaco Lopez scoring the winner in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time.
However, only four points separate the sides heading into the weekend, and seventh-placed Cruzeiro have played a game fewer than their hosts. A 2-1 victory over Bragantino was their third-straight success, with the Raposa keeping a clean sheet in their prior two wins (0-2 v Gremio, 3-0 v Corinthians).
That win at Gremio on July 10 was just their second of the season away from home in Serie A, though, and they've collected just eight points from a possible 24 on their travels. In fact, their two away wins came against sides currently in the relegation zone, which doesn't inspire confidence ahead of a trip to last season's champions.

With the likes of Flaco Lopez and Chelsea-bound teenager Estevao in such great form, it's difficult to see past a Palmeiras victory on home soil this weekend. Cruzeiro have some in-form attackers themselves in Matheus Pereira and Gabriel Veron, but away from home, they could toil.
There was just a single goal scored in Palmeiras' last game, but that was the first time since April 30 that one of their league outings had ended with fewer than two goals scored, and their only 1-0 victory of the season so far came on matchday one as they edged out Vitoria on their travels.
Four of Cruzeiro's five defeats, meanwhile, have seen over 1.5 goals scored, and they could struggle to keep out a Palmeiras attack that has found the net at least twice in their last six home games.
