Our football bet of the day for Monday, October 28 takes us to the League 1 match-up at Bloomfield Road (20:00, live on Sky Sports Main Event) between Blackpool and Wigan Athletic.

Both teams are eager to break their losing streaks as the hosts currently sit 16th in the table having accumulated 15 points from 12 games, while the Latics are in 18th place with 13 points from their opening 12 fixtures.

The Steve Bruce honeymoon period at Blackpool feels like it's come to an end after a run of three-straight defeats.

The most recent of those losses was a 5-1 thrashing at Peterborough United, although Bruce was absent from the dugout for that game following the tragic passing of his young grandson.

Stand-in boss Steve Agnew, who is expected to be in the dugout once again for Monday's encounter, will be hoping he can get the Tangerines back on track here.

Wigan could provide the perfect opportunity to do so, as the Latics sit two points below Blackpool and come into the game having lost their last two matches.

Things haven't got any easier for Shaun Maloney's men this season either, as his side are currently 18th in the table, 13 points from 12 league outings.

The former Lactics winger led his team to just one win in their first six games across all competitions, before embarking on an improved run of seven matches without a defeat - however, four of those were goalless stalemates.

Wigan have picked up just one win on their travels this season, which makes me lean instantly towards a Blackpool victory on Monday night. However, the Tangerines are 4/5 to win the game outright, so for added value, I'm opting for a correct score prediction - a 2-0 home win.

Blackpool have scored at least twice in three of their five home league games, including a 2-1 triumph against Exeter City, while Wigan lost 2-1 to Mansfield Town last time out - the second successive match, and fifth time this season, they've conceded exactly twice.
