There is an interesting dynamic to Monday’s clash between Albania and Spain, which could lead to a profitable punting angle.

Spain are assured of top spot in Group B and La Roja are likely to make plenty of changes to their starting XI with a place in the last-16 guaranteed.

Albania are desperate for points and the Black and Reds know they have to beat Spain to have any chance of progressing past the group stage of Euro 2024. Below you can find my Football Bet of the Day.

Football Bet of the Day - Monday, June 24

  • Albania vs Spain over 2.5 goals @ 8/11

Albania vs Spain over 2.5 goals @ 8/11

Spain have just about cut the most impressive side at Euro 2024 and La Roja have been excellent in two comprehensive victories over Italy and Croatia. Of course, the likes of Portugal and Germany would have a place in that argument, but in terms of control, dominance and all-round performance Luis de la Fuente’s men have been the pick.

Spain’s final Group B contest may not carry the same intensity, given that La Roja are already booked for top spot in the section, and it appears highly likely that De la Fuente will make sweeping changes to the side that dominated Italy and Croatia.

However, there is a raft of quality in the Spain squad and starting roles for the likes of Mikel Oyarzabal, Ferran Torres and Alex Baena, who will be desperate to force their way into the first-choice eleven, may not be as big a downgrade as the market expects.

Albania vs Spain Odds

It’s also worth considering the Albanian dynamic. The Black and Reds are outclassed by Spain and it could be a dangerous game for Sylvinho’s men, who will be forced to go in search of victory if they are to have any chance of extending their stay in Germany.

That said, the Balkans outfit found the net against Italy, they scored twice in a 2-2 draw with Croatia and those are two high-level teams.

Sylvinho has certainly impressed during his time in charge of the Albania national side, but the Red and Blacks don’t have the quality of Europe’s top teams and it’s a concern that the Balkans boys conceded 22 shots against Croatia.

Albania did look to take the game to Croatia last time out and they registered a pretty impressive 15 efforts on the goal of Zlatko Dalic’s men. However, having to chase three points against a confident, technically gifted and structured Spain side could spell trouble for Sylvinho’s side.

La Roja put up an expected goals tally of 2.02 against Italy, it was 2.01 against Croatia, and even if De la Fuente makes changes to his side, a contest against Albania has to be a step down in class.

Perhaps, offers of 4/9 about a Spain victory are best avoided, but the set-up of the final group-stage clash screams goals and backing over 2.5 has to be the play.
