On a quiet Monday following the conclusion of the Premier League season, it's to Italy we go for my Football Bet of the Day.

Specifically, it's the Serie A clash between Bologna-Juventus at 19:45 that's caught my attention.

Football Bet of the Day

  • Bologna to win to nil vs Juventus @ 3/1

Juventus return to action just three days after they parted ways with head coach Massimiliano Allegri and a trip to the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara to face Bologna looks far from the ideal tonic.

It’s been a remarkable season for Bologna, who are assured a place in next season’s Champions League and Thiago Motta’s men could potentially still fill the runners-up spot behind Inter in the Serie A table.

Juve dismissed Allegri following his behaviour in the Coppa Italia final, which the Old Lady won, and it’s expected that the Turin side will move to appoint Bologna gaffer Motta as their new manager in the summer.

That adds an extra layer of intrigue to a contest where only goal difference separates the two teams in the Italian top-flight table.

It’s just two defeats in 18 home Serie A matches for Motta’s men and it’s a record that has been built on a watertight defence.

Bologna have conceded only nine league goals in the Emilia-Romagna capital this season and Motta’s men have kept 13 home clean sheets in all competitions.

Serie A’s top-two sides Inter and Milan are the only teams to win at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara, when even the champions were second best in a narrow 1-0 victory.

Such is the impressive campaign of the Red and Blues, that it’s expected that Motta will be making the move to Turin in the summer. However, the former PSG midfielder remains in charge of Bologna for Monday night’s contest and perhaps he will be looking to send out a message to his suitors.

Either way, the Red and Blues have little to fear from a Juve side that have won only one of their last seven matches, haven’t won any of their last eight away games and have hit the net only seven times on that poor traveling run.

Bologna win to nil on Monday night looks a standout wager.
