My football bet of the day for Monday comes from the Uefa Nations League match-up between Spain and Switzerland at the Estadio Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez.

The European champions have already sewn up top spot in Group A4 with one game to spare, while the Swiss have been relegated to Group B following their failure to beat Serbia on Friday night.

Friday’s 2-1 win over Denmark, courtesy of goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Ayoze Perez, secured Spain’s spot in the Nations League quarter-finals and also extended their unbeaten streak to 15 games.

La Roja won Euro 2024 in the summer and are looking an unstoppable force at current, beating Denmark last time out despite the absences of Lamine Yamal, Dani Carvajal, Rodri and Unai Simon – all four started in June’s Euros final.

Spain have scored 10 times and conceded just twice in their five matches in the section, winning each of their last four after drawing their section opener away to Serbia at the start of September.

Given Spain’s excellent form and the fact they are playing the section’s basement boys, it's difficult to see anything other than a La Roja win. Away from home, the visitors have been poor, losing their previous three on their travels and only managing one win in five.

Unsurprisingly, Spain are 4/9 favourites for Monday's encounter, the draw can be backed at 7/2, while the Swiss win is available to back at 13/2.

However, given that Spain have nothing to play for, Switzerland will feel that they can get on the scoresheet on Monday night.

The Swiss have drawn their last two matches, taking just two points from a possible 15 on offer, and given both teams have scored in four of the last five meetings between the pair, I fancy them to strike against a much-rotated side.

A Spain win and both teams to score landed in the reverse fixture between the sides as La Roja ran out 4-1 winners in September’s clash in Geneva. That victory also means that Switzerland have failed to win six of their last seven meetings with Spain.
