Allianz arena bayern munich scaled

Germany will be looking to build on their 2-1 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Uefa Nations League when they take on the Netherlands at the Allianz Arena on Monday (19:45, YouTube).

The Netherlands were held to a 1-1 draw with Hungary last time out and they will be looking to leapfrog the hosts with a victory here. This looks to be a gripping encounter so this is the game that I have selected for my football bet of the day, which you can find below.

Football Bet of the Day - Monday, October 14

  • Bet Builder - Germany to win, both teams to score, Denis Undav to score anytime, Florian Wirtz 1+ shots on target & Denzel Dumfries 1+ shots @ 17/2

Germany vs Netherlands Odds

These two sides played out a 2-2 when they met in Amsterdam last month and with two points separating them heading into this one, it looks like these two are going head-to-head to finish top of the group before progressing to the Nations League finals.

With these two having a rivalry that goes back 50 years, I think we will not be disappointed on Monday night. My bet builder kicks off with Germany to win.

You may think I'm bold for going with a result in this selection, but I have been impressed with this crop of players under Julian Nagelsmann, and I believe they were unfortunate in that they had to face Euro 2024 winners Spain in the quarter-finals as I thought they could go all the way in the summer.

The Nationalelf are unbeaten in the Nations League so far, as are the Netherlands, but the hosts have picked up one more win than their opponents which should give them an edge in this match.

Then there is the home factor. They are going to be playing in front of a packed out Allianz Arena, which should help them secure a valuable three points here. I do also think that Germany boast a stronger attack and I expect this to be evident with how this match unfolds.

However, I do like the attack the Dutch have as I think both teams will score in this clash. It was 2-2 when they last met so they were able to cancel each other out. They may not be able to take a point on this occasion but I am confident that the Netherlands can cause Germany some problems and get on the scoresheet again.

Midfielder Tijjani Reijnders is having a profitable Nations League campaign so far with two goals to his name and one of them came against Monday's opponents last month.

It is also worth noting that both teams to score has been a winning selection in all three of De Oranje's Nations League fixtures so far, so I am expecting this trend to continue in Munich.

Football Odds

While the Netherlands have a player who is having joy in front of goal at the moment, Germany have one of their own. On the face of it, losing Kai Havertz to injury for this international break will have been seen as a huge blow for Nagelsmann's side, but with Deniz Undav stepping up and taking his chance, it highlights the depth Germany have in their ranks.

The Stuttgart forward has scored three in the Nations League with two coming against Bosnia last time out, so he is full of confidence at the moment. He has started the club season well, too, with four goals in six Bundesliga appearances.

He is going to be Germany's biggest danger man on Monday after scoring in his last two outings, including against the Dutch last month. I think he will come back to haunt them again.

His teammate, Florian Wirtz, teed up one of his goals the other night against Bosnia, and the Bayer Leverkusen is another Germany star who can wreak havoc on the Netherlands' back line. His pace and skill on the ball allow him to occupy excellent spaces in the final third, so I think he's worth backing to register a shot on target in this contest.

Wirtz recorded two goals at the Euros over the summer and has one goal already in the Nations League, which came in the 5-0 hammering of Hungary. I think he will be in for a few chances on Monday and I believe he can test the goalkeeper at least once.

The bet concludes with Denzel Dumfries to have a shot in the match. The Dutch right-back has a talent for bursting forward to join the attack, sometimes to lead an overlap on his winger, or sometimes to arrive late around the edge of the box.

He has two goals in the Nations League and both have come in his last two appearances, including against Germany. I think he is another player who can have a big role to play going forward in this game.
