After a frustrating opening encounter at Copa America, Brazil return to proceedings on Friday night (02:00 Saturday) against Paraguay at Allegiant Stadium.

Selecao were held 0-0 by Costa Rica in their first match in California, while Paraguay were beaten 2-1 by Colombia in their Group D opener. Read on for my football bet of the day for June 28.

Football Bet of the Day - Friday, June 28

  • Brazil to win 2-0 @ 9/2

Football Odds

Brazil are looking to bounce back from a frustrating opening match against Costa Rica, but there were positive signs regardless of the result, and the Samba Stars could make amends against Paraguay.

Selecao took 19 shots in that 0-0 stalemate, had one goal disallowed and dominated possession, so on another day they could have breezed to a comfortable victory.

Their defensive efforts were just as impressive, only allowing one shot on their own goal in California, and that could make the difference once again on Friday night.

When legends of the national team such as Ronaldinho come out and say they vow not to watch them for the foreseeable future, Brazil will want to put on a show here and silence the critics.

Eight years ago, Dorival Junior's men were in the exact same position and answered back brilliantly, following up a 0-0 draw with Ecuador in their opener with an emphatic 7-1 triumph over Haiti.

Selecao haven't lost a match Copa America contest to Paraguay within 90 minutes since the 2004 group stage, so I'm expecting a response in Nevada on Friday night.

Paraguay vs Brazil Odds

Paraguay are without a win in their last five matches, and have failed to find the back of the net in each of their last four, which is a trend that looks likely to continue here.

La Albirroja managed to frustrate Colombia for the opening half an hour, last time out before Daniel Munoz's strike meant they were chasing a result.

Daniel Garnero's side have rarely been effective when falling behind, losing 18 consecutive matches after conceding the opening goal. However, they've not suffered consecutive defeats at Copa America in 90 minutes since 2016.

The opening stalemate could serve as a wake up call for Brazil, and there's simply too much talent within that squad for me to believe that they'll fire blanks in back-to-back matches.

Brazil to win 2-0 at 9-2
