Benfica vs Chelsea Bet Builder Tips: 12/1 shot for Good Charlotte performance

We’ve got a cracking fixture to look forward to in the last 16 of the Club World Cup as Benfica face Chelsea at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte (19:00 BST, DAZN, shown live in Betfred shops).
Enzo Maresca will be hoping to guide his side to the quarter-finals of this competition, up against a Benfica outfit that secured their place in the last 16 with a win over Bayern Munich. Below you can find my Benfica vs Chelsea Bet Builder Tips as we search for a big winner.

Chelsea to win
I am going to back the English side to get the job done against a Benfica team that did brilliantly to beat Bayern and top of their group, but could find life tough in this one. Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Joshua Kimmich all started on the bench as Vincent Kompany tried to rest his key men, but it all worked out in the end as the Germans avoided Chelsea, and will instead play Group D winners Flamengo.
It does give Benfica's win a little bit of context through, and maybe weakens that result on paper. Meanwhile, Chelsea picked up six points but lost out on top spot to Flamengo due to a 3-1 defeat to the Brazilians, in which Nicolas Jackson’s red card turned the tie. With Cole Palmer’s star power and a squad that has looked decent in their other two group games, I think they will have enough to edge past the Portuguese outfit.
The ‘Lifestyles of the rich & the famous’ should be enough to secure a quarter-final spot in Good Charlotte.

Liam Delap (CHE) to score
“Liam Delap Ole Ole” is 'The Anthem’ that Chelsea fans will want to hear ringing around Stamford Bridge in the upcoming season, and he’s made an incredibly bright start to life at his new club. The Blues have lacked an elite number nine with Nicolas Jackson often failing to find consistency, but now they have invested in a top number nine.
He started the final two group games, and scored against ES Tunis with a fantastic solo effort that showed off his physicality and ability to beat players. ‘We Believe’ that Delap can find the net again against a team that has kept two clean sheets in this competition so far, but faced a difficult end to the domestic campaign.
Benfica vs Chelsea Bet Builder Stats
- Liam Delap scored last time out
- Angel Di Maria has scored three goals at the CWC
- Niclas Otamendi has had four shots in three matches
Angel Di Maria (BEN) 1+ shot on target
World Cup winner Angel Di Maria is still going strong at the age of 37, and he’s now back at the club where he made his name 18 years ago. He remains an elusive wide man, but he’s also got an eye for goal and isn’t shy about getting shots off, so let’s back him to have 1+ shot on target against Chelsea.
He averaged one shot on target per 90 in the Primeira Liga this term, while he scored a penalty against Boca Juniors and had another shot blocked. Against Auckland City, he had four shots on target and scored two penalties in a routine win, while against Bayern Munich he racked up two shots, with one testing the goalkeeper in that 1-0 win. There’s good reason to believe he will try his luck again v Chelsea so let’s add the former PSG man to our Bet Builder.
Nicolas Otamendi (BEN) 1+ shot
Former Manchester City defender Nicolas Otamendi is also proving himself to be a popular figure amongst Benfica fans. He’s always been a threat from set pieces and has proven that in the Club World Cup, having four total shots across three matches, with two of those landing on target, and one of them ending up in the net.
He’s also averaged 0.83 shots per 90 in the Primeira Liga across 2024/25, so there’s a level of consistency there. I think he can have a shot, either on or off target, against Chelsea as Benfica look to cause a shock.
