Belgium vs Montenegro Prediction: Routine win for Red Devils in the capital

Belgium begin preparations for Euro 2024 with an international friendly against Montenegro in Brussels on Wednesday (KO, 19:30). Taking place at the King Baudouin Stadium, the game is just the second-ever between these nations, with the first back in 2012 when they played out a 2-2 draw.

Team News
Kevin De Bruyne was absent from Belgium's squad in March but the Manchester City playmaker is fit now and looks likely to make his return to the starting XI, probably in place of Orel Mangala, who lined up against England at Wembley last time out.
Romelu Lukaku was suspended for AS Roma's final game of the season and was excused for their trip to Australia to take on AC Milan in a friendly, so hasn't played since May 19, but he should be given a start here to build his match fitness back up.
73-cap international Stefan Savic is out of Montenegro's squad this month but their most famous player, Stefan Jovetic, has been included and could play on Wednesday despite featuring in Olympiakos' triumphant Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina last week.

Belgium are 1/4, or an 80% chance, to emerge victorious in the capital, while Montenegro are given odds of 11/1, handing them an implied win probability of 8.3%.
The draw can be backed at 9/2, both teams to score at 11/10, and over 2.5 goals at 4/7.
Leandro Trossard first goalscorer @ 11/2
Lukaku is the obvious shout to strike first in Brussels, but after a terrific end to the season in front of goal for Arsenal, Leandro Trossard could be worth considering in this market at 11/2.
The 29-year-old struck six times in the final 10 matches, with three of those opening the scoring, to take his tally for the club campaign to 17, his best return since moving to England in 2019.
Trossard started both of Belgium's friendlies in March and scored in their last qualifier, a 5-0 win against Azerbaijan.
Belgium and under 3.5 total goals @ 1/1
Belgium are yet to be beaten under the tutelage of Domenic Tedesco, who took charge following the Red Devils' group-stage exit at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The former RB Leipzig head coach has won eight of his 12 games, drawing only to Austria (1-1), Sweden (1-1), Ireland (0-0) and England (2-2), keeping seven clean sheets in total.
Montenegro have been in good form themselves, winning five of their last seven, but those victories came against Bulgaria (2-1), Lebanon (3-2), Lithuania (2-0), Belarus (2-0) and North Macedonia (1-0), all ranked 69th or below in the FIFA rankings.
When the Brave Falcons came up against superior opposition in Serbia and Hungary, both games ended in a 3-1 defeat.
Belgium should cruise to victory on Wednesday, but I don't see a bundle of goals in Brussels. You only have to look at the results of the five senior international friendlies that took place on Monday to realise how sterile these games can be, with no more than three goals scored in any of them.
