Bayern Munich are in pole position to reclaim the Bundesliga title from Bayer Leverkusen. Die Bayern are six points clear (at the time of writing) of the defending champions with eight games left to play. Bayern host strugglers St. Pauli at the Allianz Arena on Saturday (14:30).

Vincent Kompany's side have been excellent at home throughout the season, so this is the toughest away trip the visitors will face this season. Read on for my Bayern Munich vs St. Pauli predictions, supported by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

Bayern are looking a little short in the defensive department at the moment. They suffered two blows earlier in the week with Dayot Upemacano and Alphonso Davies joining Tarek Buchmann in the medical bay. Davies is out with a torn ACL so his season is over.

First-choice goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is also sidelined, so Jonas Urbig is going to be the man in between the sticks on Saturday. He will need a makeshift defence to protect him which could be made up of Konrad Laimer, Eric Dier, Hiroki Ito and Raphael Guerreiro.

Midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic is not expected back until early May, so we are likely to see Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka feature in the engine room.

At the top end of the pitch, Kingsley Coman will miss out on Saturday due to an ankle issue, so Kompany may deploy Leroy Sane on the left with Michael Olise playing on the other side of top scorer Harry Kane.

Bayern Munich vs St. Pauli Stats

  • Bayern Munich have scored in 25 of their 26 Bundesliga matches
  • Bayern Munich have won 11 of their 13 home matches in the Bundesliga

St. Pauli are missing a few defenders themselves due to injury, with centre-backs Adam Dzwigala and Karol Mets unavailable. They are also missing a shot-stopper in Sascha Burchert.

Midfielder James Sands is still missing because of a broken leg, so Jackson Irvine and Eric Smith could operate in the midfield as a result.

Forwards Noah Weisshaupt and Elias Saad are set to appear in attack given Morgan Guilavogui and Simon Zoller will not be in the squad because of their own respective injuries.

Bayern Munich vs St. Pauli Odds

Bayern Munich have won 11 of their 13 home games this season, which is the best record in the division. They are 1/7 to win on Saturday but you will find better value by adding both teams to score to the selection because it has struck in their previous three league games. This is priced at 15/8, which has an implied probability of 34.8%.

St. Pauli have drawn one of their past three away trips in the Bundesliga and the stalemate is on offer at 7/1. The visitors are 16/1 to inflict a second consecutive home defeat upon Bayern, who were beaten by VfL Bochum on February 28.

Kane is the leading marksman in the league with 21 goals for Die Bayern and he is 12/5 to open the scoring at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern Munich and both teams to score @ 15/8

Bayern's home record is just too good and while they were beaten here in their last appearance, I do think that will end up being an anomaly. They should bounce back here, even with their injury troubles.

Offensively they have a lot more resources than their opponents so goals should not be an issue, especially when they have scored 75 in 26 games. This means they are averaging just shy of three per game.

To boost the odds, I've added both teams to score because this has been a successful bet in the league leaders' previous three fixtures in the top flight. On top of this, St. Pauli's latest away encounter saw both teams get on the scoresheet when they played Wolfsburg.

Jamal Musiala anytime goalscorer @ 13/10

Kane may be the obvious candidate for a goal in this game but the price for him to score anytime isn't particularly attractive. So I've turned to Jamal Musiala, who has netted 11 goals in 23 appearances in the Bundesliga this term.

He is a key player for Bayern and he is going to be vital for them in the final weeks of the season as they bid to regain the league title. Each of his last three goals in the top flight have come inside the Allianz Arena, with the latest being struck against Eintracht Frankfurt on February 23.

Musiala returns to Bayern after a productive international break with Germany, which included him scoring against Italy in the quarter-finals of the Uefa Nations League.

This will give him a boost ahead of his return to domestic action, and I believe he's worth backing to get on the scoresheet at the weekend.
