Bayern munich vs borussia dortmund predictions betting tips bundesliga saturday april 12 2025

The second and final Der Klassiker of the 2024/25 Bundesliga season takes place on Saturday (17:30, Sky Sports Football) at the Allianz Arena, where Bayern Munich host Borussia Dortmund. Both clubs are in the middle of Uefa Champions League quarter-final ties against Inter Milan and Barcelona, respectively, although neither side is fancied to progress to the final four after losing the first leg.

Below are my Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund predictions, supported by all the latest team news and match odds, as the hosts search for a first win in this fixture since November 2023.

Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund Betting Tips

  • Total Goals - Over 3.5 @ 1/1
  • Anytime Goalscorer - Thomas Muller (MUN) @ 15/8

Team News

Manuel Neuer (calf), Dayot Upamecano, Alphonso Davies (both knee), Hiroki Ito (foot), Jamal Musiala (hamstring) and Kingsley Coman (thigh) are all out injured for Bayern, while Aleksandar Pavlovic is expected to miss out again due to illness.

Football Odds

Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany must decide whether to make changes to his starting XI ahead of the club's Champions League quarter-final second leg in Milan on Wednesday.

Thomas Muller came off the bench to score in Tuesday's first-leg defeat, and the 35-year-old is an option to start on Saturday, as are Serge Gnabry and Joao Palhinha, both of whom also appeared in the second half against I Nerazzurri.

Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund Stats

  • 75% (21/28) of Bayern's Bundesliga games in 24/25 have gone over 3.5 goals
  • There have been at least four strikes in 64% of Dortmund's league games this season
  • Thomas Muller (MUN) has scored 14 Klassiker goals

Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck and midfielder Marcel Sabitzer, who joined from Bayern in the summer of 2023, are both ruled out of Saturday's Klassiker with knee injuries.

The visitors are back in European action on Tuesday, but their 4-0 humbling at the hands of Barcelona in midweek looks to have put the tie beyond them, and instead, they will focus on trying to qualify for next season's competition.

Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund Odds

Bayern haven't tasted success in the last two Klassiker's but are six points ahead at the top of the Bundesliga and 27 points clear of their mid-table rivals. It's no surprise, therefore, to see Saturday's hosts installed as 4/9 favourites, implying a 69.2% chance of success. Dortmund, meanwhile, are 5/1, or a 16.7% chance, to win at the Allianz for the second season running.

The sides drew 1-1 at Signal Iduna Park in November, and another stalemate can be backed at 4/1 this weekend, while a repeat of that scoreline is priced at 9/1.

Jamie Gittens scored Dortmund's goal in that game, and the Englishman is 18/5 to strike anytime on Saturday, with Bayern striker and countryman Harry Kane (7/10) considered most likely to find the net in Munich.

Total Goals - Over 3.5 @ 1/1

Just two goals were scored in November's Klassiker, and earlier in 2024, Dortmund beat Bayern 2-0 at the Allianz. However, it's a fixture that usually produces plenty of goals, with the previous nine all seeing four or more scored.

Alongside Holstein Kiel, Bayern top the Bundesliga over 3.5 goals table this season, with 75% (21/28) finishing with at least four strikes, while Dortmund (64%) aren't far off in that regard.

Over 3.5 goals has landed in Dortmund's last three games and four of Bayern's last five in the Bundesliga, so at 1/1, it could be worth backing here.

Anytime Goalscorer - Thomas Muller (MUN) @ 15/8

It was announced earlier this month that Bayern stalwart Muller would be ending his 25-year association with the club at the end of the current campaign.

The 35-year-old is Bayern's record appearance maker (743), and is third on their all-time scorers' list with 247 goals.

However, unless something remarkable happens in the Champions League, Saturday looks like being his final Klassiker, and he will be desperate to bow out with a win and a goal.

Muller has scored 14 goals against Dortmund in 44 games, and he warmed up for Der Klassiker by finding the net at home to Inter in midweek.

He may well find himself in Kompany's starting XI on Saturday, and that makes him an even more attractive option in the anytime goalscorer market.

At 15/8, I'm backing Muller to bow out of this fixture in style.
