Bayern Munich got their 2025 Fifa Club World Cup campaign off to a thrilling start with a 10-0 thrashing of New Zealand minnows Auckland City last Sunday, but the German giants will face a much sterner test of their credentials this Saturday (02:00 BST, Channel 5/DAZN) when they take on Boca Juniors at Hard Rock Stadium.

Below are my Bayern Munich vs Boca Juniors predictions, supported by all the latest team news and match odds, ahead of this Group C clash in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Bayern Munich vs Boca Juniors Betting Tips

  • Player to Receive a Card - Lautaro Blanco (BOC) @ 16/5
  • Player Scores Header - Jonathan Tah (MUN) Yes @ 14/1

Team News

Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany named a strong starting XI in his side's Group C opener against Auckland City, despite the Navy Blues only being a semi-professional club. Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, Michael Olise and Harry Kane all began Sunday's game, although the Belgian boss enjoyed the luxury of substituting two-goal Olise at half-time, alongside another winger with a brace, Kingsley Coman.

Kane was unable to get on the scoresheet before being withdrawn in the 61st minute for Jamal Musiala, who made a stunning comeback from over two months out injured, hitting a half-hour hat-trick at TQL Stadium. The 22-year-old will hope to have convinced Kompany that he is fit enough to start Saturday's game, but another appearance from the bench looks more likely.

Football Odds

Following his summer switch from Bayer Leverkusen, Jonathan Tah was handed his Bayern debut from the start against Auckland, registering an assist in his new side's big win. The Germany international looks set to line up in the middle of defence again on Saturday, perhaps joined this time by Dayot Upamecano instead of Josip Stanisic.

Leon Goretzka and Konrad Laimer could also earn promotions to the starting XI.

Bayern Munich vs Boca Juniors Stats

  • Lautaro Blanco (BOC) has been booked in three of his 13 league appearances this year
  • Seven of Jonathan Tah's (MUN) 10 goals since the start of 23/24 have been via his head
  • Boca Juniors have conceded five shots on target (one goal) to CB's in their last six games

Boca Juniors head coach Miguel Angel Russo will be forced into making at least two changes to his starting XI on Saturday, following a couple of red cards in Monday's 2-2 draw with SL Benfica.

Ander Herrera was forced off in the 20th minute of his side's stalemate due to injury but subsequently received a red card on the sidelines, and the former Manchester United midfielder has been handed a four-match ban for his touchline antics.

Boca's second red card, and first on the field, came in the 88th minute as defender Jorge Figal was dismissed for a shocking shin-high challenge on Florentino Luis. Like Herrera, Figal has been served with a four-game suspension,

Tomas Belmonte, who came on for Herrera against Benfica, is likely to start in midfield on Saturday, while another ex-Man United man, Marcos Rojo, could get the call-up to partner Ayrton Costa in the middle of defence. Costa, like midfielder Carlos Palacios, is walking a disciplinary tightrope following his booking on Monday.

Edinson Cavani missed Boca's group opener with a calf injury, and he's a major doubt for the weekend.

Bayern Munich vs Boca Juniors Odds

Bayern are big favorites to maintain their 100% record, with odds of 2/7 implying a 77.8% probability of success, while Boca are 11/1, or an 8.3% chance, to secure their first win of the tournament.

The draw is priced at 5/1, both teams to score at 1/1, and over 2.5 total goals at 4/7.

Kane (8/11) heads the anytime goalscorer market, with Boca forward Miguel Merentiel (18/5) first up for the Argentines.

Player to Receive a Card - Lautaro Blanco (BOC) @ 16/5

Boca left-back Lautaro Blanco was one of his side's standout performers against Benfica, notably nutmegging Florentino and providing the cross from which Nicolas Otamendi put through his own net for the game's opening goal in the 21st minute.

Up against Angel Di Maria, the 26-year-old was tested defensively, but three tackles, three clearances, and winning five of his six ground duels, not being dribbled past once, are good indicators of his performance level against the legendary Argentine winger and his Portuguese club. Di Maria did get on the scoresheet, but only from the penalty spot, and Blanco didn't make a single foul all match.

However, on Saturday, he may find himself giving away a free-kick or two.

Today's Football Fixtures

While Di Maria is coming to the end of his career, Olise's has only just started, really, particularly at the top level, and I'm expecting the Frenchman to make Blanco sweat more at Hard Rock Stadium.

Olise was fouled, on average, 2.5 times per game in the 2024/25 Bundesliga and 1.9 times per game in this season's Uefa Champions League.

Blanco, meanwhile, averaged 1.3 fouls per game in this year's Argentine Primera Division (Apertura) and was booked in three of his 13 appearances, and last year, was shown five yellows in 21 outings. Furthermore, in the Copa de la Liga Profesional last year, he was cautioned four times and handed one red in 13 matches, averaging 1.2 fouls per game.

Therefore, given that he will be in direct contact with a slippery right-winger, Olise, on Saturday, Blanco looks good value for a card at 16/5.

Player Scores Header - Jonathan Tah (MUN) Yes @ 14/1

Any of these three selections - two Tah shots (6/4), one Tah shot on target (6/4), or a Tah anytime goal (15/2) - could be worth a punt on Saturday, but if you're opting for the latter, I'd head to the 'Player Scores Header' market and back the big man at 14/1.

The 29-year-old will be eager to make an instant impression with the Bayern fans, having only recently joined from Bundesliga rivals Leverkusen, where he enjoyed himself in front of goal in recent seasons.

In 2023/24, the Germany international scored six times in 48 club appearances, with four of his goals coming from his head. This term, he's on four strikes, and three have been headers.

Tah has recorded two shots on target for Germany this season, and both have been headers following a set-piece situation.

The 6ft5in defender's presence on the pitch this Saturday will be enough to send shivers down the spines of Boca supporters, who have seen their side struggle to defend free-kicks and corners.

An opposition centre-back has recorded at least one shot in five of their last six games, beginning with Estudiantes, who saw Sebastian Boselli head two efforts wide on April 20.

A week later, in the Superclasico, River Plate's German Pezzella saw two of his three headers saved by Agustin Marchesin, who also had to stop a headed attempt by Pezzella's defensive partner, Lucas Martinez Quarta.

Then, on May 4, Nehuen Perez had a header blocked for Tigre, and 16 days later, Independiente duo Kevin Lomonaco and Sebastian Valdez both rose highest in the box, with the latter directing his headed effort on target.

Boca's inability to defend set-pieces caught up with them on Monday as the unmarked Otamendi, who had earlier missed the target with a header, made no mistake in the 84th minute, heading past Marchesin from a corner-kick delivery to level the scores at 2-2.

Should Tah be given anywhere near the space afforded to Otamendi, expect Bayern's new man to take full advantage.
