Two teams vying for the League One automatic promotion places clash at Oakwell on Tuesday night (KO, 19:45), as Barnsley (fourth) host Bolton Wanderers (third). Only three points separate the sides in the table, though Barnsley have played a game fewer.

The reverse fixture last month saw the pair play out a 1-1 draw at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, and it could be another tightly-contested affair in South Yorkshire. Below we have previewed the clash and offered our predictions on how the game will plan out.

Team News

Nicky Cadden and John McAtee missed Barnsley's weekend win over Wycombe Wanderers and are doubtful to face the Trotters on Tuesday.

Bolton are still without Nathan Baxter, Dion Charles and Carlos Mendes Gomes.

Match Odds

The hosts are slight favourites to take three points on Tuesday at 6/4, with the visitors priced at 7/4 to win. The draw is available at 23/10, both teams to score is 8/13 and over 2.5 goals can be found at 4/5.

Barnsley to win and both teams to score @ 7/2

Nine of Barnsley's last 10 League One games have seen both teams score, and there have been over 2.5 goals in six of their last seven at Oakwell.

Bolton have been struggling for clean sheets themselves. In fact, they've only kept one in their last nine league outings - on Saturday in their 2-0 win over Cambridge United.

That result helped the Trotters to stop the rot after two straight defeats. Both of those losses came away from home and they now face a side who have won four of their last five on their own patch.

It's also four wins out of their last five at any venue for Barnsley who, alongside Portsmouth, have picked up the most points in the division across that period. All four of their victories saw both teams score.

With third spot up for grabs on Tuesday, I expect the Tykes to grasp the opportunity with both hands and apply more pressure on second-placed Derby County.

Adam Phillips to score anytime @ 4/1

The Liverpool academy graduate was the toast of Oakwell in February as he scored all four of Barnsley's home goals during the month.

Phillips was at the double against Leyton Orient and Derby in 2-1 wins for his side, taking his tally to six for the season. He's now just two behind last season's total of eight and is a great price to get even closer to that number on Tuesday.

Adam Phillips to score anytime in Barnsley vs Bolton at 4-1
